Atrium Village Demolition Begins, But Redevelopment Threatened

Placeholder

Demolition of the Atrium Village apartment complex in Old Town is underway. Developer Onni Group will eventually build 1,500 units at 311 W Hill, 1140 N Wells and 1144 N Wells, but the developers have run afoul of Ald Walter Burnett Jr. (27th), in whose ward the project is located.

Burnett told DNAInfo that Onni originally promised 20% of the units would be set aside for affordable housing, but now wants to only allocate the 10% required by the city's affordable requirements ordinance.

Onni's plans for Atrium Village call for a mixed-income development and four towers on seven acres. A two-acre park and 47k SF of commercial space are also part of the project. [DNAInfo]
