Riverside Investment & Development Removes Renderings For 700 West Chicago Redevelopment From Website

Over two years ago, Tribune Media chose Riverside Investment & Development to redevelop seven acres it owns at 700 West Chicago Ave., near the Tribune's Freedom Center printing plant. For a few fleeting moments on Tuesday, visitors to Riverside's website caught a glimpse of what the 150 North Riverside developer has planned for that site, according to Curbed Chicago.

The plans, which will be dependent on the city relaxing zoning restrictions along the North Branch Industrial Corridor, are massive and in line with Riverside's other high-profile projects. The developer wants to build 1.5M SF of mixed-use office, apartments and retail, along with a 4.5-acre park and redesigned riverwalk. Riverside promptly removed the rendering from its website, and a Tribune Media spokesman told DNAInfo Chicago the plans are preliminary.

But those plans have a better chance of being fast-tracked if the city approves relaxing zoning restrictions along the North Branch Industrial Corridor, which could happen at next week's City Council meeting. Previous developments like the adaptive reuse of 600 West Chicago helped lay the foundation for developer and investor interest in River West as a commercial real estate market.
