QTS Data Centers secured a construction permit to begin an expansion at its Pilsen data center. The cost of the work covered under the permit is valued at $11.5M.

QTS is building an electrical substation on the site, a former Chicago Sun-Times printing plant at 2800 South Ashland. The work will include transformer pads, foundations, service conduits and intermediate electrical gear.

The 317K SF data center has 133K SF of raised floor capable of providing 24 megawatt of critical power for a variety of needs and is hyperscale-ready. Chicago's data center vacancy rate is the lowest in the U.S., driven by leasing activity from both hyperscale users like Microsoft, Google and Oracle, and enterprise users.
