Construction of Chicago's third-tallest building is now visible from a distance. Crews have been hard at work on Vista Tower since last August and the work has progressed enough that passers-by can start to crane their heads upward, according to Curbed Chicago.

The general contractor for the project, McHugh Construction, began installing the angled columns that will give the Studio Gang-designed, 1,186-foot-tall tower its distinctive undulating shape. The Vista Tower site has two tower cranes and a smaller telescoping crane, which are rising in conjunction with the tower's progress.

The pace of construction dovetails with the record $700M construction loan Magellan and Dalian Wanda Group landed last month from China-based Ping An Bank. Magellan is pre-selling condo units inside Vista at a steady pace. Roughly 35% of the tower's 406 planned units have been bought.
