How BEAR Construction Delivered A World-Class HQ On A 14-Week Deadline
Last year, when international research and advisory firm Gartner Inc. merged with CEB in a $2.6B acquisition, the company decided to consolidate its four offices in the Chicagoland area. Gartner selected 74K SF at River North Point, managed by EQ Office.
To meet Gartner’s 14-week move-in deadline, project management firm Gleeds engaged BEAR Construction to manage the construction of Gartner’s new Chicago office.
BEAR’s team was led by project executive Tim Kosogof and superintendent Tony Melone. To reach the client’s deadline, BEAR put in overtime. The general contractor also had to work with out-of-town architects and engineers to execute on the design plans. Thanks to a chain of open communication and consistent on-site visits from the design and engineering teams, BEAR was able to ensure the office was built to Gartner’s specifications.
Other challenges the contractor had to overcome in a short time frame included light fixture procurement and the installation of specialized felt panels.
By relying on a strong design and construction team, Gartner was able to create a space that does more than offer views of the Chicago River. The company’s office at River North Point features HunterDouglas-designed ceilings at the main entrance, booth and lounge areas. Coupled with decorative fixtures, the ceilings use an artistic mix of felt panels and wood beams to create a warm ambiance and manage the acoustics across the open office floor plan.
Working with additional IT, security and audiovisual consultants, BEAR was able to collaborate on design and install and commission the space in the time frame needed.
BEAR’s dedication paid off. Gartner moved in on June 4, and has been enjoying the space since.
