Skanska Goes Spec On Latest Seaport Development

With a string of speculative Boston development successes under its belt, Skanksa USA is hoping for another on the Seaport’s eastern edge.

Skanska has begun construction on Two Drydock, a $128M, 225K SF office building at 2 Drydock Ave. in the Seaport. Just as the developer did at its 121 Seaport and 101 Seaport developments, Skanska is building Two Drydock on spec. Both of those buildings were successfully leased during construction, with PricewaterhouseCoopers going to 101 Seaport and 121 Seaport landing PTC and Alexion Pharmaceuticals. Now Skanska hopes to replicate that success down the street.

“We planned Two Drydock with the evolving needs of today’s modern workforce in mind, and are delivering a welcoming, unique and flexible building which adds to the vibrancy of the neighborhood,” Skanska USA Executive Vice President and Regional Manager Charley Leatherbee said in a prepared statement. “Our tenants will be in good company surrounded by a diverse mix of pioneering startups and businesses.”

The SGA-designed building will include 9,500 SF of ground-floor retail, a 12K SF public plaza, a fitness center and a 7,500 SF rooftop terrace. Construction is scheduled to complete at the end of 2019.
