Accountancy Goes For Boston Open-Plan Space
NYC-based Marcum recently inked an 11-year, 50k SF lease expansion at its Boston office in Exchange Place at 53 State St. The deal represents more than taking more space: the accounting firm will convert its office space into an open-space environment.
That's a sea change from the accounting industry norm, which generally has resisted open-space offices. Marcum managing partner Jeffrey Weiner tells us his firm is a company of entrepreneurs who work with entrepreneurs, and wants to use its office to help attract and retain the business professionals who want the firm to grow and succeed.
The deal is the first in a series of national expansions and renovations Marcum plans in conjunction with NGKF and architect Marc Spector, principal of the Spector Group. NGKF's Lee Brodsky, Ross Perlman, and Jason Cameron repped Marcum in the Boston deal, while the building owner, UBS Realty Advisers, was repped by Cushman & Wakefield's Glenn Verrett.
