A 130-bed hotel is to open at one of the Midlands' poshest properties as the 600-acre venue pushes on with a 12 year investment plan.

The £12M hotel will open later this year at the Dallas Burston Polo Club at Stoneythorpe, near Stratford-upon-Avon, the Coventry Telegraph reports, adding that work on site has begun

Even posh property like a polo club has to fall in with the planning laws. The most recent planning application for the hotel, an outline dating from 2016, is listed on Statford-upon-Avon Council's website as still pending a decision.

In a statement to Bisnow the council said an outline planning application for the hotel is not due for a decision until 31 March, and no date has been set for a council committee meeting to consider it.

The polo ground has already seen retrospective planning applications for a two-storey players' changing room, and the process is still going on five years after the original 2013, part retrospective, application.

The boutique hotel will have 50 bedrooms and 80 external garden rooms.

The plan also includes a 3,000 capacity conference venue.

Dallas Burston, ranked as No. 44 in the West Midlands Rich List for 2018, has previously made several attempts to secure permission for a much larger residential development.

The most recent, in 2015, was for 700 homes, a dementia care unit and a primary school.
