Industrious Expanding At Ponce City Market
A major coworking player is expanding its presence in the location where it debuted its Atlanta operations.
Industrious has secured an additional 16K SF at Ponce City Market, bringing its total at the city's poster child for adaptive reuse to more than 68K SF. The market is a former multistory Sears warehouse that German-backed, Atlanta-based developer Jamestown converted into an urban mixed-use project. The location currently has 550 members, but the expansion will allow Industrious to host up to 700 members there, company officials said.
“We’ve decided to expand for a number of reasons, most notably to provide flexible workspace options to Atlanta’s emerging tech sector and helping companies expand and grow. We’ve seen continued demand in this regard,” Industrious Regional Manager Valerie Jaffee said. “The opportunity to increase our footprint within Ponce City Market itself was also a deciding factor for us.”
Atlanta has been a hot market for New York-based Industrious, which recently closed an $80M funding round and operates 1M SF across the U.S. In Atlanta, the firm runs offices in Buckhead, West Midtown and Midtown. It also recently expanded into the suburbs with a 28K SF at 7000 Central Park, an office tower connected to the Cox Communications campus in Sandy Springs.
“For many years now, Atlanta has been our best market,” Industrious CEO Jamie Hodari previously told Bisnow. “If there is a city where we're going to try to push the size of a location, or if we're going to experiment, we're going to experiment in Atlanta."
