Development giants from Houston and Boston are seeking approval to break ground on a large apartment project in the Edgewood neighborhood of Atlanta.

Hanover Co. and GID are moving forward on plans they announced last month to develop 422 units at 285 Mayson Ave. just west of the Pullman Yards mixed-use development. The developers applied for a permit on Aug. 1 to begin construction on the nearly 500K SF project, dubbed Hanover Edgewood, that would include retail, a clubhouse and other amenities, according to the application.

The site is the former home of Edwards Fine Foods, a pie factory that operated out of the facility for six decades, according to Urbanize Atlanta. The real estate blog reported in April that Toll Brothers was partnering with Hanover on the 13.3-acre site that would also include townhomes and condominiums. It was unclear as of press time if Toll Brothers is still involved.

According to a GID press release, other amenities on tap for the project include  fire pits, outdoor barbecue grills, cabana seating, a demonstration kitchen, a fitness center and a theater.

GID is in the midst of developing High Street, a $2B mixed-use project in Central Perimeter that will include 150K SF of retail and 600 apartment units. Hanover also purchased the former Boys and Girls Club of America site off West Peachtree Street in Midtown last year for $92M to make way for a high-rise apartment tower.
