DANCING ON TABLES!

Big-shout out to new sponsor ALKS & Associates, which reps top commercial flooring manufacturers like Constantine, PacifiCrest, Bolyu, and Junckers Hardwood. Check them out.

Well, not quite.  But last night at BLT, it looked like that for a moment when Brookfield’s main man here, Paul Schulman, mounted the back of a booth to address 250 party-goers.  The occasion?  The first anniversary of Brookfield’s acquisition of Trizec and a big thank you to brokers.

The firm now boasts 24 properties here (it’s almost done with Two Reston Crescent and making quick progress on 1225 Connecticut and 77 K ), and its theme of high-end buildings and service was reflected in the fare (jumbo shrimp, tuna tartare, and filet mignon), and the fact they rented out the whole restaurant for the evening.

Back on the ground, Paul remains center stage with Grubb & Ellis’ Keith Lipton and Ashley Blum, Akridge’s Sarah Downey (is that Akridge red?), and ING’s Marc Deluca.

Brookfield’s Jim Hedges, CBRE’s John Germano, Rand’s Linda Rabbitt (a Brookfield board member), and Cassidy’s Zeke Dodson.  How’s this for symmetry: CB is moving to a Rand built-out space (The Victor Building) owned by Brookfield.  (We can’t figure out the Cassidy connection, but Zeke’s everywhere, so there must be one.)

Transwestern’s Bob Filley, Studley’s Laurent Myers, Brookfield’s Eddie Trujillo and Andy Jones, and Transwestern’s Ray Hite.  Ray was itching to catch the VT/BC game – his brother is an assistant coach for the Hokies; sorry about the result, guys.  BTW, Ray coached Penn State basketball back in the 70s.  Bob was enjoying a celebratory beer; earlier yesterday he closed 100,000 SF of prime industrial property in Jessup, MD.

Staubach’s Dave Houck and Newmark’s Brian Wood.

Tranwestern’s Pete Larson, CBRE’s Tom Rossi, and Randall Hagner’s Petch Gibbons.  We only take Pete’s picture because he’s father of actress Melissa Sagemiller (co-star with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher in The Guardian).

CRESA!  Pete Gottesman, Tom Birnbach, and Russel Canard.  Despite the tweed preppy look, Russ is still a surf-bum at heart; he claims he was wearing velco rip-away pants to catch the next wave.   Little known fact:  Russell has a surfing website.  Pete, a self-proclaimed political junkie, is heading up to New Hampshire next month to go door to door for Obama.
