Big shout-out to great new sponsor The Tower Companies. And tomorrow night they're debuting the "healthiest building ever built": 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard, 200k SF LEED Gold Certified with signage on I-270. We'll be there—wouldn't miss it!

The Cushman leasing guys below, John Henschel and Peter Berk, with Brookfield's Daniel Purrington and Jim Hedges, may look like extras in a JLo video, but it was just the Miami night club theme at the broker lunch we went to yesterday as Brookfield unveiled its new 6-story Two Reston Crescent on Sunrise Valley Drive.

The Herring & Trowbridge designed building delivers next month. It has a two-story lobby, overlooks two lakes on a 36 acre campus, and has 184K SF for lease.

Cushman newbie-broker Cy Kouhestani (just started on Dave Millard and Peter Berk's team in January) shows off the building's continuous shuttle that runs back and forth between Two Reston Crescent and Reston Town Center. Don't worry, he's not drinking and driving: That's just sparkling water.

With gas prices outta-sight, the hot summer trip seems to be a "staycation." So we thought we'd check in with Papadopoulos Properties to find out what restaurants are opening so you can pretend to be a tourist in your own town. (Papadop, as they call themselves, specializes in restaurant brokerage.)

Charlie Papadopoulos, Andrew "The Intern" Morley, George Kretikos, George Petros, Tom Papadopoulos, and Ralph Tapiero. (Hmm, Greek names must be more common than we realized.) Now, let's get to it: the food gossip. Oya owner Errol Lawrence this summer is opening both Sei Sushi at 444 7th Street and Ray's (seafood) at 9th and E. Caf? Trope just opened earlier this year on P St and 21st, serving French Caribbean, but owner Howsoon Cham is already shopping for another location. Healthy salad joint Chopt is looking at locations #4 and #5 at 19th and L and 12th and G. Expect vintage pizza bistro Matchbox and Greek caf? Cava to unveil their second acts on Capitol Hill. For those with a sweet tooth, Hello Cupcake is opening at 1361 Connecticut Ave in July. (Don't be surprised if the Bisnow bunch starts to look pudgy; our new HQ is just a couple doors down.)

Brothers Charlie and Tom tell us the trend this season is threefold: burgers, yogurt, and lounges—but maybe not all at the same time. The guys say a new yogurt concept out of NYC, 16 Handles (get it?), is hunting space in the DC area. Plus, Shadow Lounge, the high tech club where you don't have to wait for service but can text message drink orders, opens in the next few weeks at 2131 K. As for burgers, the duo says high end burgers are all the rage (think: Pop Burger from NY or Matchbox mini burgers) and they have several such eateries scoping DC locations.

No sign of a restaurant recession in this neck of the woods; the gang tells us there's not enough space for chefs and restaurateurs they rep. Black's executive Chef Mallory Buford is looking for space in DC while local Mexican favorite Guapo's is looking for space on Rockville Pike. Geoff Tracy (aka Chef Geoff) is looking all over to open restaurant #4 and new concept Shaboz Taqueria is also on the prowl. On the owner-rep side, Papadop's busy leasing up 22k SF of retail for Ironwood Partners' new Garfield Park in Clarendon which breaks ground in September at 10th and N. Washington. Plus, now that the old vacuum cleaner building in Bethesda (on Arlington and Old Gtown) has a few more stories, the guys are in talks with several trendy NYC restaurants to fill Bethesda's only rooftop dining space. Hungry yet?
