Big welcome to new sponsor Adagio, that spectacular new condo project at the corner of Wisconsin and Bradley in Bethesda has arrived!  Check it out today.

We’re briefly interrupting our 35 Under 35 list (regular programming resumes tomorrow) to report on another awards bash: the Women in Technology’s annual Leadership Awards program the other night at the McLean Hilton. WIT, a 1,000-member non-profit now in its ninth year, brought in WJLA news anchor Maureen Bunyan to serve as mistress of ceremonies for the crowd of 250 technophiles and winners in eight different categories.

Two of the night’s nominees: Stephanie Knoch of CACI International (for the Rising Star award) and Gail Perkins of Mary Washington Hospital (Government award). Perkins, formerly an ER nurse and now a forensic nurse, was nominated by a detective. She began a program for victims of violence at Mary Washington Hospital in 2000.

Corporate nominee Kathy Walker, Sprint Nextel’s Chief Network Officer, and Raluca Monet from Unisys. Kathy tells us that Sprint will soon be launching their fourth-generation wireless network, Clearwire Venture WiMax. Sounds fancy.

Annie So of Northrop Grumman; Mary Tabb Howard, Cheryl Roberts, Sue Liblong and Lauren White, all from SiloSmashers

Corporate winner Tami Erwin, President of the DC/Baltimore/VA region for Verizon Wireless, and Carol Moore of SAP.

Government winner Laurie Reyes, Police Officer 3/Project Lifesaver Coordinator with the Montgomery County Dept. of Police, and husband Tarik. A police officer for 11 years, Laurie coordinates a program that uses radio frequency and traceable bracelets to track individuals with a propensity to wander, such as Alzheimer’s sufferers.

Heidi Gerding, CEO of HeiTech Services; Toni Townes–Whitley, Unisys; and Trudy McCrea, Achieve-It. “The sole mission of WIT is to support, mentor and promote the success of women and girls in technology,” says Trudy.

Kevin Reichart with wife and nominee Erin Reichart, both from Northrop Grumman. Erin, whose husband helped bring her to the company, says her big workplace perks are “jeans on Fridays and the best boss in the world.” Flattery will get you everywhere, Erin.
