You know where it’s not snowing? Space. (And if Roker starts calling for that, we’re going to flip out.) So how do you get there? How about a taxi?

Orbital Sciences CEO David Thompson

This morning, we spent time with Orbital Sciences CEO David Thompson at the NVTC Titans Breakfast Series. He says by the middle of this decade, his company hopes to have a “space taxi” that can transport astronauts to the International Space Station and other lower orbiting places. (Be wary of fraudulent drivers who set the meter to “Mars.”) While several markets have recently shrunk, David says the space biz jumped 7% from ’07 to ’08 and currently creates $182 billion in economic activity.

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night (nor multiple blizzards, nor terrible drivers on 95) will stop Bisnow from making it to your inbox. Apparently we’re not the only crazy ones: More than 250 loons made it out to the morning’s event, even though our usual parking spot on Westpark Drive was still under two feet of snow.

Air Force MG Paul Capasso, Director of Infrastructure Delivery for the Office of the SAF/XC

Just before the big storm (the first one) we ran out to the Pentagon Ritz for AFCEA DC’s monthly luncheon. Air Force MG Paul Capasso, Director of Infrastructure Delivery for the Office of the SAF/XC, says it’s “pointless” to improve the quality of networks in an uncontested environment, but he needs more technologies that work in the harshest of cyber conditions.

AF Director for Information Dominance Programs Randy Walden, DISA Vice Director MG Ronnie Hawkins, Air Force MG Paul Capasso, and James “Snake” Clark, Director of AF ISR Innovations and Unmanned Aerial Systems Task Force

The panel: AF Director for Information Dominance Programs Randy Walden, DISA Vice Director MG Ronnie Hawkins, the top of General Capasso’s head, and James “Snake” Clark, Director of AF ISR Innovations and Unmanned Aerial Systems Task Force. General Hawkins says DISA is bringing Army ERPs into its enterprise environment and talking with the Air Force about doing the same. Also, how do we get a cool nickname like Snake?

LONG LOST BROTHERS?

OK, this one has been driving us nuts for awhile, and we have to say something: We’re convinced Pragmatics COO Paul Strasser and former Army Deputy PEO EIS Lee Harvey are the same person or at the very least, twins separated at birth. “You’re not the first one to say that,” Paul told us. And get this: The two are golf buddies. We wonder if they wear matching shirts.
