SONNY TALKS

Bisnow Valentine party! Friday Feb. 13, from 5 to 9 PM at Lotus Lounge, 1420 K St. Half-priced drinks and free sushi buffet. Only $10, but you must register in advance.

This morning, we went to the Tysons Ritz to hear new Interior CIO Sonny Bhagowalia give his first public talk since a December promotion. We hear that when he was CIO at Indian Affairs he was considered the "Indian Jay Leno," so we couldn't wait for his opening monologue.

Here is Sonny (right) with Tim Dowd, CEO of INPUT, which sponsored the event that drew 200. Interior is retiring 90 financial management systems while trying to integrate 70 new ones, but that isn't stopping Sonny from looking for companies to provide agency-wide secure wireless solutions. "We've got a broad mission with more than 2,400 operating locations across the country where our workers cannot be tied to a desktop."

Harris' Richard White, Kronos' Steve Stamatakis, Harris' Carol Gabica and Kronos' Shane Murphy. (Note to self: Next time position the people from same companies together so we don't have to repeat company names so much.) Harris provides weather information for the likes of NOAA and FAA while Shane tells us Kronos is busy building financial systems for over 60 government agencies. Carol is off to Denver this weekend for business, and amazingly not to go skiing.

Infonic's Anh Nguyen and Mobile Armor's Pam Tigmo. Anh tells us Infonic is doing Share Point replication for DoD, while Mobile Armor encrypts information on mobile computing devices, so bad guys can't hack into a government Blackberry accidentally left at Starbucks. Anh is getting ready for a marathon, and  is already up to ten miles in her training.

IMTAS CEO Ajay Bhatia, CSC's Joe Greer and ca's John Magee. Ajay tells us his start-up is developing financial life-cycle systems for seven government agencies, including the FBI and VA. For Valentine's Day he plans to cook dinner for his wife, but he's not sure what's on the menu. "I'll go to the store and see what inspires me."

Wyle's Rick White, NuAxis' Raza Latif and CNSI's Eric Vergne. Raza tells us his company just won the Navy's SeaPort-e contract to provide general IT services and is doing similar work for the Army and the National Park Service. Eric says he'll spend the weekend working on a proposal (the work kind, not the engagement-ring kind).

Serco's Darryl Scott and 3Com's Reginald Moore. Darryl tells us things have calmed down at Serco since the late-December acquisition of SI International. Reginald has a great idea for all you married guys: Send your wife a different card each day leading up to Valentine's Day. That's what he's doing. (Well, technically he's sending one to his wife, not your wife.)

David Stegon will be at Deloitte's welcome reception for Tom Davis tonight! Send story ideas to David@Bisnow.com.
