LAST NIGHT'S
TOM DAVIS
BASH

In the new economy and politics of Washington, what's hot in law firms, and what's not? Practices, billing, recruiting, partnership, comp, technology, you name it. A Bisnow Breakfast & Schmooze with an all-star panel, this coming Tuesday morning, Feb 17, at the great BLT restaurant downtown. Sign up here!

We joined an A-list crowd of 400 last night at the Portrait Gallery as Deloitte honored its big new fish: former Congressman Tom Davis, whose drawing power was obvious as we bumped into Rahm Emanuel going in as we were going out.

Tom (do we really have to tell you he's the guy on the left?) with Deloitte's regional chief Gary Tabach and federal head Gene Procknow. Gene tells us Tom's a perfect fit at Deloitte because he understands technology. "He knows the programs that work and maybe more importantly, those that don't."

We're not sure if the room was packed for Tom or for those superb mini-sliders.

Qwest's Diana Gowen, GSA's John Johnson, Qwest's Wayne Davis, and Energy's Peter Tseronis. Diana's happy since Qwest announced earlier this week it topped 4Q earnings predictions. John says he's in the middle of projects like HSPD-12 and the GWAC, and shows us he's price savvy in his personal life, too: He got his wife Valentine's Day roses in bulk at Costco.

Homeland Security's Mike Kern and Sheila Dryden with Joint Staff C4 (Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems) Vice Admiral Nancy Brown and Deloitte Center for Network Innovation Chairman Lt. Gen. (Ret) Harry Raduege. Harry just finished a year-long report (with 40 other experts) on how the new administration can secure cyberspace. He's heading to his Colorado Springs home to celebrate Valentine's Day with his wife.

Former Unisys Federal Systems president Greg Baroni, NVTC CEO Bobbie Kilberg, and Deloitte's Janet Hale. So what's Greg up to these days? He's vice-chair of Digital Management, better known as one Ken Bajaj's great success stories. (Ken sold it for a cool $600 million.)

Perot's Bill Arzt with Olga Grkavac and Jennifer Kerber of ITAA (oh, wait, we have to remember it has a cool new name) Tech America. Olga tells us she got more than 50 congratulatory emails on making the Bisnow Power 50 (she was #14) which made up for the fact she accidentally spilled the beans to us about ITAA's merger with AeA at the INPUT Holiday Party.

EDS' Gina Bancroft and Professional Services Council CEO Stan Soloway. "We're working on three things: stimulus, stimulus and stimulus," Stan says. He's wondering how the government will handle the flood of data it's going to get with the push for transparency.  Gina is also looking to find ways EDS (now owned by HP) can get its piece of the package.

Greater Washington Board of Trade CEO Jim Dinegar and McCormick Group's Lyles Carr. Jim tells us BOT is hosting a transportation forum on Feb. 20 with the Secretaries of Transportation from Virginia, Maryland and D.C. and the GM of Metro. He's spending his off-hours rooting on his 8-year-old daughter's basketball team.

Deloitte's Peter Brown and Christine Vermillion with former DOT Asst. Secretary Tyler Duvall. Christine tells us she's taking her son to the Capitol on Monday for his 16th birthday where (thanks to a friend) the flag above the dome will be raised in his honor.

David Stegon will be at the Bisnow Valentine's Day Gala tonight! Send story ideas to David@Bisnow.com
