Thanks for over 100 nominations in our search for the top "35 Under 35" entrepreneurs. We're delighted that Deloitte has joined forces with us, law firm Greenberg Traurig, and our partner Fortune Magazine. Through Deloitte's annual Fast 50 and Fast 500 awards programs, in addition to its Tech Venture Center, it's a key adviser to fast-growth companies, as is Greenberg Traurig. Stay tuned!

Let it be known the Mayflower doesn't just pack in visitors these days for tours of the 8th floor. 750 Federal IT types (about a fifth from government itself) crowded in Saturday night for Bethesda AFCEA's 10th annual NIH Children's Inn Gala, chaired this year by Guerra Kiviat's Rob Guerra. It's as compelling a cause as they come:  funding a residence on NIH property for families of out-of-town kids with serious illnesses to stay during treatment. Since it costs $93 a night to host a family there, the $400k raised goes a long way. The crowd rose as one to sing happy birthday to a 10-year old current patient who has 53 back tumors and came to thank them.

Government co-chair for the event was DISA head Charlie Croom (yep, that would be three stars on his dress blues), above with wife Gayle. (If you see an extra glow, that's because they're still relative newlyweds.)  Charlie challenged our new reporter to guess his service and on the fourth try we got it right (Air Force, you smarties).  After overseeing a $7.3 billion budget and doing tons of business with the likes of Sun, Cisco, IBM, and Microsoft, he retires in June. The real question:  Whose uniform will he be in next

The Two Queen Annes: Acquisition Solutions president Anne Reed, left, and IBM Systems Z Platforms head Anne Altman. Anne the First's company has 240 employees and consultants advising federal agencies; she was CIO at Ag, then headed EDS state and local marketing. Anne the Second is basically the Mainframe Maven at a company with about a billion employees.  And we knew her back when she just ran federal sales. Highlight:  She bought an autographed DC United soccer ball in the silent auction for son Zach who's big into the sport at Oakton High.

Deputy Army Chief of Staff for Strategy and Concepts Greg Kee and wife Amy, Command Information president David Kriegman, QinetiQ SVP Suzann Zimmerman, and Sage Communications founder Larry Rosenfeld.  Greg was PEO EIS at Ft Belvoir managing logistic systems, then moved to the Army Materiel Command. Suzann was a VP at SAIC, leaving to her new high flyer with big boss Dwayne Andrews.

Cadd Micro's Daron Moore and wife Maria Moore of Red Hat, Kearney & Company's Greg Cumvey and Ilana Demko, Teradata's Rob Lucca with wife Jennifer of Children's Inn, and Kearney's Brian Kearney with wife Nicole.
