Serena Williams, John McEnroe, Anna Kournikova are coming to DC this summer! Get your tickets to the Washington Kastles and don't miss the action, right downtown! More info here.

Yesterday we were surprised to walk into the atrium at the Tysons Ritz, hub of the Potomac Tech Wire Digital Media Conference, only to find it barren, but that is because the crowd had surged off to see the first panel. More than 500 industry leaders (and followers) came from all over the east coast hoping to pick up a nugget on the future of electronic information (and playing with their cell phones and other gadgets when the panelists got boring).

Voxant’s Stephanie Davari-Page and Fox Interactive Media Sr. VP Ron Berryman. Ron oversaw Fox’s foray into the interactive media space with $560 million in revenue last year and nearly a billion targeted for this year. “Innovation is changing the media business rapidly,” Ron says. “The old media is finding out they need to adapt or be replaced.” Ron should know: He oversees 3,000 employees and a number of major Internet portals including MySpace and Rotten Tomatoes. Herndon-based Voxant provides licensed video content for niche Web sites.

Yahoo! PR guy Jason Khoury and Yahoo! News VP and GM Alan Warms. Alan told the audience how the election cycle has changed because of online media, but we found out his true passion. “As long as the Chicago Cubs stay in first place this summer, I’m happy.”

ComScore VP Anthony Psacharopoulos and Nevin Communications prez Ed Prugh with comScore’s Marvin Pollack and EVP Linda Boland, whose business card naturally has Chinese characters on the back. The Reston-based company is a worldwide leader in measuring Web site traffic, and with its recent purchase of M:Metrics is a leader in measuring mobile Internet usage as well. But first things first: Linda will spend the upcoming holiday weekend picking up her daughter from summer camp.

Ericsson’s Donna Campbell, Discovery Communications Doug Craig, MTV’s Alice Kim, kajeet CEO Dan Neal and Myxer CEO Myk Willis. Silver Spring-based Discovery just launched a mobile application for petfinder.com, a site that allows users to locate adoptable pets. Myk told the audience the days of paying to download mobile applications will soon end. “As the market continues to grow, we will see a transition to advertising-based programs, making things better for consumers,” he said.

Dingman Entrepreneurship Center’s Melissa Carrier, WPNI’s Ken Barbieri and Columbia Capital’s Mike Avon. Mike tells us Columbia invested in mobile content providers Millennial Media and Mobile Posse to take advantage of an ever-growing market. Mike’s family is growing as well. His wife is expecting their second child at the end of July.

YouLicense’s Reavis Daniel Moore and The Orchard’s founder Richard Gottehrer. The Orchard is an online music provider with more than a million songs from all over the world. Richard tells us he is a music guy living in the tech world, but his site is one of the world’s largest digital music operations. Oh, and he knows music, having written “I Want Candy” and “My Boyfriend’s Back,” along with producing records for Blondie and the GoGos.  Now we’re impressed.
