Udall Awards!

Attend Marymount University's Business & Technology Information sessions, covering every area of study from cyber security to healthcare management. Click here.

Last night we went to the Udall Awards Dinner at the Ronald Reagan Building to celebrate the Parkinson's community.

The dinner raises funds for the Parkinson's Action Network's (PAN) work to cure the disease and honors Mo Udall, the long-time Arizona congressman, presidential contender, and father of Senator Mark Udall. We snapped NPR radio show host Diane Rehm surrounded by psychiatrist Gerry Perma and retired musician Judy Dodge.

The evening featured a conversation between Diane Rehm and renowned physician and best-selling author Oliver Sacks (right). He's with Muhammad Ali Parkinson's Center director Abe Lieberman and PAN board member Ron Galowich.

There was a cocktail reception, dinner, and awards ceremony. Here, PAN California's Robin Katsaros with PAN CEO Amy Comstock.

The USO-Metro held its annual Stars and Stripes night at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel. The star-studded event included Miss Maryland Christina Denny, WWE champion Mark Henry, and Miss America Nina Davuluri.

We went to the Mid-Atlantic Oktoberfest, NoVa's largest, at The Village at Shirlington, with 50 breweries, great German food, and Alpine music and entertainment. It was hosted by Capitol City Brewing Company; we snapped its brand manager Olivier Le Ru, brewing operations director Kristi Griner, owner David von Storch, GM Nasrin Saadvandi, and brewmaster Matt Ryan.

Following a tradition from the 1880s in Munich, Capitol City's Oktoberfest is in its 14th year. Thousands came to sample 100 different ales and lagers, including the Smoketoberfest and Dr. Punkinstein. Here, Cassie Nelson and DoD's Mike Stefantz flank Smithsonian's Andrew Zino, who served delicious beer from Devils Backbone Brewing Company.

Running Against Breast Cancer!

We went to Bethesda for Men Against Breast Cancer's First Annual 5K. We snapped founder Marc Heyison, MABC ambassador Brian J. Silver, and Comcast SportsNet's Chick Hernandez.

Wiles Co's Bob Coughlin, Brawner Co's Debbie Salko, By the Book's Lisa Milne, and Santos Postal Co.'s Jennifer Hough. Held near Bethesda Row, runners and families came to show their support and got chips to track their results, breakfast from Mamma Lucia's, t-shirts and backpacks from City Sports. MABC is the first and only national nonprofit helping men be effective caregivers.

Bisnow Named Sexiest Woman Alive!

We made the list! And while it wasn't actually the Esquire's Sexiest Woman list, we did one better. On the Crain's Fast 50, honoring the fastest-growing companies in New York, you'll see Bisnow at #12. We've come a long way since 2005, but we hope we've stayed true to something the article picked up on: "hyperlocal e-newsletters and industry events notable for their informal atmosphere—and modest ticket prices." Reached for comment, Scarlett Johansson (Esquire's real sexiest woman) said "What's Bisnow?" Yeah, we've still got it.

Alfredo Flores and Heather Mahoney contributed to this issue.
