Stars Come Out
for YouthAIDS

Biggest party of the season—and it's free: Bisnow's Democrats v. Republicans Hip Happy Hour. 1,500 people from all Washington industries. The great Park at Fourteenth. Oct 15, 6-8 PM, stay and watch the debate. No charge, but you must sign up!

We were a tad star struck Friday night as some of the most beautiful people in the world joined together for the YouthAIDS gala at the Tysons Corner Ritz. Stars like Ashley Judd and Anna Kournikova brought glitz and glamour as they strutted down the red carpet. YouthAIDS sponsors education and medical assistance in over 60 countries around the globe.

Dayana Mendoza (Miss Universe, if you couldn’t tell by her sash) and Anna. Considering Tysons Corner is in the universe, Dayana felt it was her duty to attend the silent auction and dinner within her jurisdiction. Friday’s festivities featured a performance from John Mellencamp and an after party with DJ Lady Miss Kier of Deee-Lite. Remember them?

YouthAIDS deputy director Marshall Stowell and activism mogul Sir Bob Geldof. Sir Bob created Live Aid and Band Aid, so YouthAIDS sounds right up his alley. YouthAIDS is known for its star power. Last year, musician/Nobel Prize nominee/world savior Bono attended the bash.

Daily Show correspondent John Oliver. The Brit brought levity to a serious cause. He was a stand-in for Jon Stewart, so he admitted earlier this week “there’s going to be a real sense of anti-climax in the room.” We thought he pulled it off.

TV personality, and wife of Ozzy, Sharon Osbourne. We attempted to win her heart by biting off the head of a live bat. She seemed tired of that old trick.

Host Ashley Judd and Dayana. Ashley is the YouthAIDS Global Ambassador and travels to dozens of countries afflicted with the virus. It’s not often you capture a cosmic meeting between a global ambassador and Miss Universe without the assistance of the Hubble Telescope.

COMMON (Rams Head Live! 20 Market Place, Baltimore, MD, 7pm): Chicago hip-hop artist Common is the king of socially conscious rap. Feel free to dance to it, however.

TOMBS TRIVIA NIGHT (1226 36th St. NW, 6pm): Couldn’t get into Georgetown U.? Prove you are smarter than those who did at the university hangout’s quiz night.
