The Scene Bisnow
September 29, 2008

Big shout-out to great Bisnow sponsor the Washington Redskins!  FedExField is the perfect year-round venue for your events. And the 'Skins are now offering Bisnow readers a special 20% discount! Congratulations on the big win against the Cowboys!

Celebrities and fashionistas swarmed a big fundraiser Friday night at the St. Regis. We were on hand as “Best in Show” superstar Parker Posey came by to help raise money for Nest, a charity helping women in developing countries.  We just had to find out who everyone was wearing. And why. And how. We are very inquisitive journalists.

“Queen of the Indies” Parker Posey and head of Nest Rebecca Kousky.

Professional lacrosse player Billy Glading and CW TV personality Paul Wharton. Does it look like Paul’s surprised to see us? Our jack-in-the-box paparazzi style does that to people.

Mahdi Investments’ brother and sister team Sean and Gloria Mahdi. They told us who they were really wearing off the record, but insisted that we write Valentino and Versace.

The Washington Post’s Holly Thomas and Michelle Thomas (no relation). Michelle is looking relaxed since moving from her house with three roommates to a one-bedroom apartment.

Octavia Watson wearing Herve Ledger, and Karen Vidangos in an outfit by Express. Octavia is preparing for a trip to Las Vegas via Miami. Sounds like a calm, relaxing, and museum-filled vacation.

Bisnow’s own Chris Fava momentarily forgets he’s interviewing Parker and instead starts calculating what it’s going to take to get her out of her rumored relationship with Keanu Reeves.

Designer Adele Wechsler wearing what else? Her own creation. When you have your own label, there’s no need to write your name on the tag. That would’ve saved us a lot of time back at summer camp.

Designers Kayce Armstrong and Mae. Kayce is wearing Sweater Nation, clothing comprised completely of “deconstructed” recycled materials. Mae’s inspirations are characters from literature. We were wearing our Emperor’s New Clothes-inspired outfit, which might explain why security escorted us out.

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS (7pm, Ventnor Sports Café, 2411 18th St): Bring your will to win, your game face, and most importantly, your hands to this age-old competition. Just don’t throw out paper first; it’s a sign of weakness.

BLUES MONDAYS (6-9pm, Westminster Church, 400 I St SW): What better place to listen to the blues than a church? Put in a special request for the Saint Gregory of Nazianzus blues.

TANGO NIGHT (7pm, Meze, 2437 18th St): It takes two to tango, but if you go alone someone will probably dance with you out of pity.
