Last night we went to the Shoes for Running Tour at The Howard Theatre to see Big Boi.

We snapped him with interactive marketing consultant Patrick Kidda and his wife DoT's Starr Kidda, who took advantage of the Howard Theatre's free ticket offer to furloughed government employees for shows through Saturday.

We snapped Ben's Chili Bowl owner Sonya Ali, Pepco Social Responsibility VP Debbi Jarvis, Landon School's Carole Kerns, and her husband Fort Myer Construction's Chris Kerns.

The opening featured 60 works of art created by LPTM boys and young men. Here, artist Jay Durrah with DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities' Judith Terra and its exec director Lionell Thomas.

Race Toward A Cure!

sc5
Last night we also went to L2 for Race Toward A Cure, a Marine Corps Marathon fundraiser benefiting brain cancer research, inspired by BethAnn Telford, who was diagnosed in 2005 with terminal brain cancer, but hasn't let it slow her down. We snapped her (second right) with co-hosts Lamont Easter, Rokas Beresniovas, Larissa Johnson, and Sandeep Thakrar.

sc6
Since '05, she's run one marathon each year; last year, she conquered the Kona Ironman Triathlon. Here, Full Measure Education's Charles Brodsky, Give An Hour's Bruce Shuttleworth, and sponsors Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure's Cristina Bonner and Mark Green flanking Team Kids' Christine Schaubach.

Beth will run her 12th Marine Corp Marathon on Oct. 27 to continue to raise funds for brain cancer research; all last night's proceeds went to the cause. Here, ICF International's Arsie Soloman, CIS's Holly Taghavi, and Nordstrom's Kenya Rennie.

Billy Currington!

sc9
We watched country music star Billy Currington at The Fillmore Silver Spring. He sang crowd faves, such as People are Crazy and Pretty Good at Drinkin' Beer, while also throwing in Motown and surprise covers at the encore, including Daft Punk's Get Lucky and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines. He even brought his dog Paco on stage when he sang Like My Dog.
