Polo!? Is it still around? Well, nobody revives the old better than The Smithsonian, so it's natural they were the ones who trotted it out on the National Mall Sunday. We spent the day with The Young Benefactors (one of the largest museum-based philanthropic societies, only barely edged out by the Air and Space Museum's Moonlanders for Tots) as they held their 2nd annual Benefactors Cup to raise money for Culture4Kids, a charity dedicated to helping DC-area schoolchildren cultivate the Smithsonian's resources.

Players from the Harper's Bazaar sponsored team pose for a picturesque promo shot. Secondary Life Capital president Mark Goode, Video Next chief technology officer Dave Marra, Marriott e-commerce manager Tom Arundel, and Destination Polo's Doug Barnes miraculously aren't muddy: The polo grounds soaked up the torrential rain that postponed the matches from Saturday.

We admit this grainy picture looks like we're paparazzi using telephotos. But we needed evidence for the point that the play wasn't just on the field. Lobbyist Chet Lott rode as his father, Trent Lott, cheered for him in the shade of the VIP tent. But after the match, Chet did his own VIP schmoozing.

Don't be fooled by Joanna Block in her stylish black. She's just as comfortable in polo gear, or business suit as president of Kiron Global Strategies. And yes, that's birthday babe Carolina Furukrona straightening her hat with Nacho Figures (we don't make up names), who models for Ralph Lauren. Carolina celebrated her birthday with a big bash at Skye Lounge the night before.

Sisters Anna and Greer Kimsey took full advantage of their day in the sun. With Congress coming back in session, Anna is going to have her hands full. of appropriations requests at Dutko Worldwide. Greer is slightly newer to the DC scene, but as an employee of Jamestown Entertainment already rivals big sis's social schedule.

The Ralph Lauren team of Michael Liss, Nacho Figures, Chet Lott and America's Most Wanted host John Walsh took one of the day's coveted trophies. Hmm, the Ralph Lauren Polo team wins a polo event? Just a coincidence? After the competition the players headed to an after-party hosted by the Mandarin Oriental.

Co-owners of popular eatery Teatro Goldoni apparently decided to save on ballroom rental for their birthday bash and held it at their own restaurant. We were there as Michael Kosmides and Jose Garcia turned up the heat Saturday night in the restaurant-turned-nightclub. Perhaps Pamela Sorensen (of Pamela's Punch) and Jose couldn't find a designated driver and are here taking to the sky the helium-filled way.

DHS trial attorney Dimple Shah, DL Management's Chantal Attias, and Roberta Bardawil got with the program and donned the all-red look.

AMA Construction's Luis Alexandre, celebree Michael Kosmides, and childhood friend Bob Kyle celebrated well into the night. Luis is not new to the nightlife scene, but he can now earn money while he downs a pint as a new investor in Adam's Morgan's The Blagard.
