The Scene Bisnow
September 19, 2008

Last night we headed to Lima in the K Street Corridor for the GQ Bombay Sapphire Party. We tried to look like we came straight out of the magazine's pages, but since a dispute with our mailman he's only been giving us 1970's back issues. We put on our bellbottoms and platform shoes and prepared to boogie.

Bombay girls Holly and Nicole are remarkably camera shy. Holly loves getting paid to club. Nicole, however, just complained her feet hurt.

After Melissa checked our name off the list, doorman Radovan Vulikic was happy to let us in. Bombay Sapphire sponsored the party and the hostesses sported its trademark teal.

Mary Beth Ginder and Lima waitress Erin Patterson welcomed people at the door. Erin graduated from Virginia Tech in the spring and is now getting a whole new education.

Townhall.com's Lauren Best and Fashion Washington's Jackie Ellis. Jackie has been hard at work producing FW, and we celebrated its release earlier in the week.

Zookeeper (that’s right, Zookeeper!) Jill Schlotter and the National Arboretum’s Zack Hasychak just returned from Bermuda. Jill works at the National Zoo and specializes in primates. She was rather impressed as we used our opposable thumbs to stir our drink.

Bearing Point program manager Hou Wang and General Dynamics CPA Brian Anderson were one-upping each other for vacation stories. Brian just returned from doing business in the Ukraine, while Hou had a six-month stint in Greece. The line between vacation and business can be blurry.

Second-Hand Roses

Also last night, Goodwill proved there's a new American designer in town and it's more in tune with the current economy. Goodwill of Greater Washington hosted a fashion show at the French embassy with all apparel coming direct from Goodwill stores, proving that vintage is the new couture. "You too can have this dress," said emcee Catherine Malloy of her pink gown, "for $27.99." Above, Reservoir Road became the Rodeo Drive of DC. Fashion designer Tu-Anh styled the models with the theme "under Paris skies" in mind. Karl Lagerfeld, we hope you're watching.

Out to support the cause are Ernst & Young's Caroline and Will Walker, Jordan DeDona and Veronica Brown.

No it's not the Vera Wang fall show, but it's close. The event even showcased bargain bridalware that made the normal four-figure price tag on a wedding dress seem downright mad.

Mylestone Plans' Jessica and Amir Eyal, Apartment Keepers' founder Daniel Simon, and the Humane Society's Lauren Silverman.
