Cupcakes, Wine

& Foodies!

Join us for our Back To Business Schmooze & Style-O-Rama on Monday, January 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres from The Galleria’s premier restaurants, an open bar and music!  Find out more and register here.

We joined over 100 guests at the first Foodie and the Beast, DC’s only food-themed radio show, live at Carmine’s for lunch.

It’s live once each quarter, though hosts David and Nycci Nellis tell us they had so much fun, they’d love to do it more often. We snapped them with Carmine’s CEO Jeffrey Bank.

Everyone enjoyed Carmine’s signature savory fare paired with mimosas. Here, PR guru Amber Pfau with husband PWC’s Mike.

We snapped the travelers: ABB Technology Ventures’ Grant Allen and Katherine Kennedy, who just got back from a coast-to-coast whirlwind holiday tour, Carmine’s Jennifer Wolinski in from NY, and Venga’s Winston Lord looking tan from his trip to St. Barts.

Fidelity’s Gyimil Rutherford, Young Entrepreneurs of America’s Darcy Waugh, and real estate development expert Marta Lopez.

King Pinz at Sterling Women!

Perseverance and dedication to your dreams are two of the biggest keys to success in business, entrepreneur Diane Reedy told fellow businesswomen at our sponsor’s January Sterling Women luncheon. With her husband Gary, Diane opened King Pinz Luxury Lanes and Sports Grill in the Village at Leesburg in June 2010, and its success led to a major expansion last summer. The couple has a history of operating successful family entertainment centers in NoVa, including several Planet Play locations and Centreville Minigolf and Games. She’s with our great sponsor, Reston Limousine CEO Kristina Bouweiri, founder of the Sterling Women monthly networking group. Next month's speaker is sure to be a big draw: Emmy-award-winning journalist Jan Fox. Find out more about the lunch here. Learn more about our sponsor Reston Limousine here.

Cupcake Wars!

We stopped by Bourbon Adams Morgan for the Cupcake Wars All-Stars Viewing Party on the Food Network. Sticky Fingers’ founder Doron Petersan and head baker Jenny Webb won the competition in March 2011 and have now become the first vegan bakery to win Cupcake Wars All-Stars.

They had to make 1,000 cupcakes for the American Music Awards inspired by famous groups. Guests got to try their Salt-n-Peppa, Rolling Stones Brown Sugar, Man in Black Johnny Cashew, and Chuck Berry cupcakes that helped them win. We snapped DC Prep’s Erika Barry, Cultural Tourism DC’s Sam Edelstein, White & Case’s David Courchaine and FASEB’s Stefan Bradham.

There was a lot of cheering from the jam-packed bar. Here, Jenny Webb’s DC Rollergirls teammates The Karen Mary Co’s Karen Eakes, Room & Board’s Camille Morin and Pearl Dive Oyster Palace’s Jessica Wolf.

Wine Walk!

Over the weekend we went to the Crystal City Shops for the annual 1K Wine Walk sponsored by the Washington Wine Academy and Crystal City BID. Hundreds laced up their sneakers and sampled more than 30 wines at stations along the course. At the Cabot booth, we snapped WTP's Angelica Rodriguez (second from left) with her friends, the government's Kelly VanBuskirk, Brooke Peloso, Kaitlyn Beyer, Bianca Simak and Sarah Waddell.

GMU law student Mariam Al-Koshnaw, HP Enterprise Services' Kristy Bootz, C2 Education Centers' Aubrey Arnold, and her mom Ginger enjoyed South African wines and French bread at station 4.

Kathleen Wilson, who got caught by our flash, Smith and Noble's Jill Kahn, Neediest Kids' Amy Ginsburg, CSC's Sheryl English, the government's Marsha Edney, and accountant Greg Schlegel.

Station 3 featured delicious Tortilla de Patata (Spanish omelet) from Jaleo. Here Hill staffer Allison Witt, Tonya Lauridsen and Jennifer Bolton who’s visiting from NY.
