Last night we traveled to the French embassy (those Frenchies can’t get enough of us) for the International Couture Collections show. Designers from Hungary to Mozambique came to DC to show off their finest fashions.

The runway show capped off DC’s Fashion Week. We were there when it started, and because we’re suckers for bookended coverage, we had to see it close. Ambassadors and dignitaries were in attendance, surely looking at low-cut gowns and stiletto heels as viable solutions to the global financial crisis.

Multi-cultural designs from around the world were on display. Designer Bayarzul Enkhtaivan escorts a model wearing her traditional Mongolian fashions. But you knew that.

International Couture Collections producer, host, and DC native Ean Williams’ own collection, Corjor International, kicked off the show. He created the event to raise awareness for local designers and their businesses.

At the end of last week we went to Chevy Chase to celebrate the release of Party Favors, former GOP fundraiser Nicole Sexton’s exposé on politics and greed. Despite being “pure fiction,” Sexton’s tale raises the eyebrows of more than a few political insiders. Nicole now works for the ONE Campaign. She’s flanked by Ellen Siegel from Stand up to Cancer and Fashion Rocks and former Indiana Congressman David McIntosh.

Jennifer Little Page from the National Association of Home Care and Hospice, with Dr. Matt Gavin and former DC mayoral candidate David Kranich. “Being a Republican in DC is challenging,” says Kranich, now with Randall Hagner. “But I would think about running again.” (Maybe he knows something about changing political demographics we don’t.)
