Bravo, Jose!

Enjoy the 88th running of the world-famous Virginia Gold Cup Races on Saturday, May 4 at Great Meadow in The Plains, VA. Find out more about hospitality tents, tailgate spaces, and ticket purchases, click here.

Last night we went to Jaleo to celebrate its 20th anniversary and salute super chef Jose Andres.

We snapped the chef with ThinkFoodGroup CEO Rob Wilder, who opened the tapas bar in Penn Quarter 20 years ago with Jose and partner Roberto Alvarez, revitalizing the neighborhood, transforming downtown DC and, by introducing us to small plates, changing how we eat.

The restaurant was packed with folks paying homage to Jose, not only for his cooking, but for all his work with DC Central Kitchen. We snapped US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Jaleo's head chef Ramon Martinez.

Sen. Mark Warner, Lebanese Taverna's Gladys Abi-Najm, and Western Development Corp's Herb Miller.

WomenHeart's Wenger Awards!

We went to the Ronald Reagan Building for WomenHeart's 13th Annual Wenger Awards and dinner Monday night honoring those who've made an impact on women's heart health. Before they went on stage, we snapped honorees Abbott Vascular's Jerri Anne Johnson, organization CEO Lisa Tate, Dr. Rita Redberg, and WomenHeart chair—and heart attack survivor—Carrie Loveless.

Also honored: Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Dr. Carolyn Clancy, and Dr. Nanette Wenger, for whom the awards are named. The program included moving testimonials from heart disease survivors, as well as a seemingly impromptu, and very amusing, operatic performance from the banquet manager and sommelier.

Top Realtors!

Danai Mattison and Barak Sky are honored in the new Realtor Magazine, the official publication of the Natl Assn of Realtors, in 30 Under 30, the top young realtors from across the country. Congrats!

Design House!

Yesterday afternoon we drove to 2507 Foxhall Rd to check out the 6th annual DC Design House. We snapped Whitney Hansen and Camille Saum, who designed the living room, and Kelley Proxmire who designed the foyer.

24 designers specialized in each space of this 14,000 SF Wesley Heights home. Here, Case Design's Allie Mann, Akseizer Design's Jamie Brown and Jeff Akseizer who flank designer Katherine Kernot-Jonas worked to make the home's top level a sanctuary.

Furnishings and accessories are for sale, with 20% of proceeds going to Children's National Medical Center. Here, Design House exec committee members: Skip and Debbie Singleton, Christina Emmerman, Sandy Steele, and Karen Beiley.

Alfredo Flores, D. Channing Muller, and Travis Holler contributed to this issue.
