BET Honors!

Young Playwrights' Theater honors world-renowned playwright Paula Vogel with the Giving Voice Award on Feb. 9 at the Edison Place Art Gallery. This gala evening will feature food, drinks, live music and unique silent auction items. Purchase tickets here.

Saturday night we went to the very glam BET Honors at the Warner Theatre.
We snapped Alicia Keys on the red carpet; she later performed.
Wayne Brady delighted the crowd by singing, dancing, and playing a harp.
Comedian Cedric the Entertainer.
Honorees included 10-time Grammy award winner and international music icon Chaka Khan, celebrating 40 years in the industry.
And three-time WNBA MVP and four-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Leslie.

Bridge to Freedom!
Friday we went to the Bridge to Freedom Light the Way Gala at the Westin Georgetown. The foundation works to help survivors of modern slavery. We snapped members of Ritmo DMV, who danced: Ricky Furusawa, Judth Condezo, Tanja Crk, Walter Borges, Alicia Korol, and Raymond Ross.
Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, dancing and a lavish silent auction. Here, Seraphim Global’s Barbara Amaya, Dan Broot, Courtney’s House’s Tina Frundt, and Salvation Army’s Penny Matheson.

We joined The Murphy legacy of Delta Sigma Theta, which includes four of Vashti Turley Murphy’s daughters, six granddaughters and seven great-granddaughters, to celebrate her legacy, as well as other founders of the sisterhood, at an intimate cocktail reception at the Goethe-Institut Washington Art Gallery. We snapped Rachel Murphy Humphrey and Nashti McKenzie with event organizer, The Fab Empire’s Joi-Marie McKenzie.
Attendees at the sold-out event enjoyed cocktails while nibbling on a crimson and cream-themed menu. Here, Shaiah McLain, Renee Peck and Baltimore City Public Schools’ Andrea Evans.
