Ladies take note: the Ultimate You...Today 2011 Conference for Women is about two weeks away. Sign up for life-enhancing strategies from a team of experts and a networking cocktail party. Presented by SCeNic Enterprises. Feb. 5. Washington Post Conference Center. See ad at right, and sign up here.

We didn’t publish yesterday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. And on Friday, we stopped by Arena Stage for the BET Honors dinner.

We snapped BET CEO Debra Lee with actress Gabrielle Union, who hosted the Honors the next night, held at the historic Warner Theater for the third year.

Nemacolin (Family Pkg2)

Two honorees for their involvement in fashion, music, media and the arts, were Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show co-host, super-model Iman, and the founding director of the Smithsonian’s Museum of African American History and Culture, Lonnie G. Bunch III.

Super Rich!

We stopped by Stroga to meet Russell Simmons Friday night as he promoted his new book Super Rich: A Guide to Having It All, where he describes his path to success and what readers can do to get there. We snapped him with long-time friend, model Katie Rost.

The book, which was released two weeks ago, is a more thorough guide than his previous one. Hooks Books Events co-founder Perry Hooks said she shares a common philosophy and love of yoga with Simmons. She’s with business partner Loretta Yenson.

Russell tells us the book explains how to achieve positive results through meditation, prayer, and making you a “more conscious giver.” He thinks people should look inside for the strength to follow their dreams. Fans snacked on chicken kebabs (not Russell, since he's a vegan) and fruit while dancing to DJ Spinser Tracy.

Art Soiree!

We went to Georgetown’s L2 Lounge for Art Soiree’s Stellar Constellation Collection. This solo exhibit by Don Patron features modern portraits of DC philanthropists. We snapped Don (black tie) with TTR Sotheby’s Jennifer Harlow in front of her portrait, Abraham Group’s Stephanie Abraham, and Yale Law prof Bill Eskridge.

Tati and Sandro are the dynamic duo behind Art Soiree. They started the company in 2009 to showcase emerging talent in the visual arts, short film, music, and performance art.

Don’s partner Marcus Stephens (whose face is on the event invites), philanthropist Linda Bywaters, who’s featured in the collection, Washington Speakers Bureau’s Christen Green, and British Embassy’s David Schuld.

Escaping the library for a night: Georgetown Law students Ed Lee, Alyssa Monsen, Andy Aguilar, Kate Sullivan, and Chance Lee.

Fashion show producer Tiara Christian, fashion consultant Jeffery Wilkins, landscape architect Greg Shannon, and interior designer Megan Blake.

State Department’s Nicole Gibson, TTR Sotheby’s Jennifer Harlow, and ICF International’s Christy Hartman.

Kristina D’Ambrosio, Caitlin Byrnes, and Erica Moody contributed to this issue.
