Real Estate Bisnow
May 19, 2008

Appian Realty Advisors has medical suites for lease. Corporate Plaza @ Quantico Center in Dumfries. Appian welcomes new tenants: Health 1st Medical Center, Montclair Physical Therapy, Dumfries Family Medical Clinic, among others! Congrats!

We don't know if that's actually true, but everyone does seem to know Dr. George Bitar of the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute in Manassas. And since Bisnow is trying to put a fun new face on the medical profession in Washington, we figured he might be a logical place to start. (Haha.)

George often performs a dozen operations a week and 100 Botox sessions a month, so we came prepared to leave beautiful.  But what this 2006 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man of the Year really wanted us to leave feeling is that it's better to give than to receive.  George has been back at it this year as co-chair of CARE's Anniversary Celebration, a kick-off event for a month long fundraising effort to support the organization's fight against global poverty. (If you missed it, we were there munching on the hors d'oeurves; plus, there are two more events next month.) He's the first male co-chair in the Celebration's 62-year history, and sharing the honors with his wife, Rima. They were married in their native Lebanon two years ago, and, when war broke out along the Israeli border, they saw CARE's emergency relief first-hand.

The phrase "Bitar wrote the book on neck lifts" will soon be literal.  His book on neck rejuvenation is in final edits and should hit your local medical bookstore by the end of the year (right next to Harry Potter and Dumbledore's Dermabrasion). Other specialties include a breast augmentation procedure that leaves the scar hidden under the armpit. Pressed for the kind of stats that make us journalists salivate (how many? how often? how much?), George reminds us that it's quality, not quantity. As he likes to say, "We offer the quality of the Ritz Carlton, the efficiency of Wal-Mart, the customer service of Nordstrom, and the patient care of the Bitar Institute for Cosmetic Surgery." His colleagues agree: George was named a 2008 Washingtonian Top Doctor. (Not to be outdone, his father, a pediatrician, was also voted at the top in his field.)

George's office is adorned with photos from trips to Greece, Rio, and South Africa, and this one from the Great Barrier Reef. He returns to Lebanon annually. Prior to 2006, the trips were for pleasure. Now that he has in-laws there, it's less clear. (Just kidding.) He's also a visiting professor at the American University of Beirut, and his own degrees come from George Mason and the GW Med School. His wife is no slouch either. She's long-distance-learning her way to a PhD in Electrical Engineering from UCLA. To ensure they see each other occasionally, they jointly design the Institute's newsletter. If we can suggest a font: Times New Romance.
