JLL's NEW TITAN
OF INDUSTR(IAL)

In 2 days: Five of the biggest names in capital markets, Beitler, Reschke, Maki, Kavanau, and Friedman, take on the topic at our next Bisnow Breakfast & Schmooze: the future of credit, construction financing, and the CMBS market. Jan 27, Oak Room at the Metropolitan Club. Crazy low price. Sign up now!

Jones Lang is moving into the big boxes. (We actual survived three nights in a Walmart camping section, but this is different.) Its added John Huguenard to steer national industrial investment sales and pad the industrial strength it acquired with Staubach in '08.

JLL's John Huguenard, Matt Gilbert, and Bruce Miller,

John, flanked here by Matt Gilbert and Bruce Miller (who work portfolios for large companies), comes from Colliers Indianapolis. He tells us that market was a big fish, small pond scenario, and after $3.2B and 102M-SF sold since '94, he's ready for something bigger. (Like Lake Michigan?) John says we should start to see some pent-up demand coming out in the industrial markets in '10, with steady tier one cities leading the way to recovery.

JLL's John Huguenard

With industrial vacancy rates in Chicago at their highest in 19 years, John says the first properties to be absorbed will be the small to mid-sized. Users are tending away from the 750k to 1M-SF big boxes that were popular in the early to mid-2000s. He also anticipates LEED-certification will add value to buildings, if developers price them comparable to a non-LEED building.

NEUSTEP

NeuStep's Michael Schab, Gene Ellis, Maria Kuznetsova, Rubina Mander , Lee Syrjanen, Liam Mulholland, and Raphael Bennet

What's the best way to see a space without visiting? In lieu of becoming one of James Cameron’s avatars, NeuStep suggests its virtual Webwalk, based on hundreds of photos stitched together to create a 360 degree view. Founder Raphael Bennet (right) came up with the idea as part of a final college project. Now, with the help of Michael Schab, Gene Ellis, Maria Kuznetsova, Rubina Mander, Lee Syrjanen, and Liam Mulholland, he's sold hundreds of WebWalks for spaces around the world.

NeuStep's clients range from hospitality and tourism, to conventions and trade shows, including clients such as Samsung, the Champs d'Elysee, and the Chicago Auto Show. One of the top features is that you can move backward and forward, not just look around, which gives a better idea of dimensions. Michael tells us his favorite part of working at NeuStep is all the places he gets to see and photograph.

DISTURBED ASSET

The 20k-SF building will be auctioned at the Doubletree Hotel, 5000 W. 127th, in Alsip on Feb 10. Fuzz not included.
