Your expired eggnog may suggest 'twas the season rather than 'tis, but our report now on the Young Hospitality Industry Professionals holiday party indicates today's youth can party forever. More than 250 YHIPs reveled at the Sofitel recently, with the help of sponsors like Transportation Management Services and Chuck Fazio Photography, who provided the snaps below. Though the Sofitel is only one block from the White House, W was too old to join.

Gaylord Hotels' Gary Onorio, Atlanta Marriot Marquis' Emilo Gomez, Hyatt Hotels' Kathleen Powers and MGM City Center's Helena Jette show there are lots of reasons to be optimistic during rough economic times—including an on-site cartoonist.

YHIP head honcho Dan Sherman and Champion Exposition's Dan Goodwin offered tips on keeping your conference attendance strong while still cutting back. Goodwin's helping the National Marine Manufacturers Association save money by re-using last year's banners (graphic overlays are easy to add for new sponsors or logos, and no one can tell). He also says Champion has lowered prices on freight, labor, and drayage. (Don't confuse drayage with dressage, as we did. One is shipping logistics at trade shows, while the other involves horses, which haven't been used for shipping in years.)

Worldwide ERC's Jill Terralavoro and Karen Kroehler, Austin CVB's Meredith Brown, the National Defense Industrial Association's Holley Slabaugh and Austin CVB's Jim Doherty.

Greater Phoenix CVB's Mark Metcalfe, National Apartment Association's Megan Shannon, and San Jose CVB's Mary Gallagher appear to be in a coat closet. We didn't ask any questions.

Since these are young industry professionals, we imagine Boone & Son's Jewelers' Erik Boone had curfews in mind when he awarded a Raymond Weil watch to door prize winner, Utilities Telecom Council's Andy Browne.
