One of DC’s top charity events the past 23 years has been the Leukemia Ball, so Saturday night we visited the Washington Convention Center for dining, entertainment by John Pinette and Jackson Browne, and an auction with two Mercedes
 

The Ball has raised more than $37 million from this region for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since it began in 1988, and on Saturday raised over $3 million. The emcees: WUSA9’s Andrea Roane, Fox5’s Laura Evans, NBC4’s Lindsay Czarniak, and ABC7’s Alison Starling. No wonder everyone loves local news!

Chelsea!

 

We stopped by Borders on K Street Saturday for comedian Chelsea Handler’s signing of her new book Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. She was in town to perform at DAR Constitution Hall, but wanted to meet her fans one-on-one.

 

Borders was packed as hundreds waited in lines to get their book signed; some even brought Chelsea’s favorite drink: Grey Goose. GW grad student Rachel Runnals, consultant Angel Sams, and On Tap’s Melissa Howsam.


Lauren!
 

MTV reality starlet Lauren Conrad of Laguna Beach and The Hills went to Fairfax Mall on Saturday to sign her second novel, Sweet Little Lies. Over 800 fans waited to meet LC, who also has a successful clothing line sold at Kohl’s.

We went to Chevy Chase’s Lord & Taylor Thursday night for a cocktail reception and signing of Michelle: The First Lady, The First Year by Washington Post fashion editor Robin Givhan. The Pulitzer prize winner is flanked by Lydia Russo and Danielle Greer.

 

The event was hosted by Fashion Group International, a global, non-profit with 5000 fashion industry members, which invited select students such as Marymount’s Julia Grillo and Kelsey Wright.
