March Madness!   We stopped by ESPN Zone on Friday night for KIPP DC’s fourth annual March Madness 2010 Benefit. KIPP DC is a growing network of high-performing public charter schools in DC’s underserved communities, offering students outstanding educators, a challenging program, and lots of support. Guests saw the opening round of the NCAA tourney, while enjoying a dinner buffet, silent auction, open bar, and ESPN Zone game card. Suited for Change!   We celebrated National Women’s Month at Old Town’s The Full Cup last Thursday, to benefit Suited for Change. Guests got complimentary massages, make-overs, wine, hors d’oeuvres, and goodie bags. We snapped Lashelle Davis and SRA International’s Marlene Hall browsing through the fun apparel.   With Foundations for Success, The Full Cup provides complimentary bra fittings and total breast awareness services. We snapped The Full Cup fitter, Mary Orban, with Cisco Systems’ Katie Keegan.   Suited for Change provides professional clothing and life skills to low-income women to increase their employment potential. Its Executive Director Tyna Gaynor is flanked by The Crave Company’s Wendy McAllister and PR guru Maurisa Potts. Chefs!   This is the year of the Belgian chef! Honors have gone to Brasserie Beck and Café Belga, and now the Belgian Embassy chef, Jan Van Haute, won the Embassy Chef Challenge at the House of Sweden. The contest, which drew a crowd of 400, was organized by Cultural Tourism DC, and supports Washington heritage and the arts. Thanks to Ronald Baker for the photo. Weddings!   We went to the Georgetown Ritz-Carlton last week for License to Wed, a reception celebrating the legalization of gay marriage, as guests looked at vendors that cater to gay couples who want to marry. We found Accenture’s Don Marion and Tony Dasilva with Marriott’s Chris Otway and student Noe Arteaga.   Many large area businesses have welcomed the new business, and guests saw a ceremony site set up with couples enacting a faux wedding in a Courthouse Chapel.
