The Sale!

U Street is a great place to live for shops, galleries, and clubs. More specifically, live in The Floridian! Beautiful exposed ductwork, piping, and sliding barn doors, reminiscent of NYC industrial lofts. Models available daily. Info

Last night we went to Georgetown for the District Sample Sale, a semi-annual event where DC’s hottest boutiques set up and offer deep discounts to guests to benefit a charity.

We snapped Deacon Does DC’s McLean Robbins, getting a head start on St. Patty’s Day, with District Sample Sale founder (and rumored Real Housewives of DC cast) Mary Amons, who snagged six pairs of shoes at the Sassanova boutique …for charity.

Florodian - jumbo in-text

DoD’s Tate Yost and the Nature Conservancy’s Coventry Burke tell us they’ve been coming to the sale since it started four years ago.

Nemacolin (Family) - jumb

Labels for Love selects the charity each year; this year’s recipient was CityDance Early Arts, represented by Alexe Nowakowski and Kelli Quinn, which provides DC kids from under-served communities free access to dance classes and performances.

Three of the sale’s co-founders: Neiman Marcus’ Liberty Jones and Fingerprint DC’s Barbara Martin and Jayne Sandman.

We found three moms who took a break to support charity and get some deals: Amy Gardner, Darcy Marshal, and Lacey Matin.

Aid for Haiti!

Last night, we went to a reception at the Georgetown Club, whose prez Steve Hayes, tells us his son lost six friends on a missionary trip to Port-au-Prince when their hotel collapsed during the earthquake and he’s been to all their funerals. He’s with Haitian Ambassador Raymond Joseph, who said, “from my heart and my country, I thank you.” Founder of event organizer Innocents at Risk, Deborah Sigmund, is with Blue Lotus Group’s Chris Thomson.

The Ambassador told us to help by giving to any non-profit that’s adopted a Haitian sister city because more can be done by rebuilding one village at a time. Here, Capital City Ball founders John Dunford, Tanya Lynn Sabel, and Bruce Fries.

Staying active in the anti-trafficking movement, former Miss DC Kate Marie Grinold visits with fellow philanthropists IP prez Ira Peppercorn and ABC 7 News’ Pamela Brown.

Mill House Consulting’s Samuel Moore, Smith & Nephew’s Tom Donkers, Innocents at Risk’s Cherie Short, who’s organizing a relief trip to Haiti, Kara Kuligowski, and AEI’s Kimberly Hudson.

Quel Noche!

We went to The Washington Ballet's Noche de Bolero at Meridian International Center Friday night for food and wine from all over the world. Artistic Director Septime Webre is flanked by event co-chairs Jennifer Streaks, Maureen Berk, and Pamela Taylor.

The glamorous evening was inspired by TWB’s premiere of Nicolo Fonte’s innovative ballet, Bolero, April 14-18. Here, Jete Society’s Erin Barnes and Women’s Committee prez Beth Kohlhoss.

The event was the TWB’s Women’s Committee’s sixth annual wine tasting and silent auction. IT Path’s Michael Cymerman and his wife Meredith are with doc Ben Watkins and his wife Natasha.

TWB Women’s Committee’s Carolyn Crabb, Traudel Lange, and artist Najwa Bayrakder.

Makeda Saggau-Sackey, Heather Mahoney, and Kristina D’Ambrosio contributed to this issue.
