Doggie Heaven!

Runway shows, makeovers, and 30 boutiques each night selling at incredible pricesCrystal City BID's Crystal Couture returns next week. We're co-hosting its closing nightFeb. 6, which is already garnering lots of buzz; be there every night. It's free! Info

Last night we stopped by downtown’s Ritz-Carlton for the ninth annual Sugar & Champagne Affair to support the Washington Humane Society and have a night of fun with man’s best friend.

Two-legged guests sipped champagne and enjoyed fantastic food from some of the area’s finest chefs as they honored WHS officers, while four-legged guests had a variety of delicious-looking doggie treats. Here: DesI Living Innovations’ Krista Davis with Sammy and National Endowment for the Arts’ Ellen Grantham with Bogart.

The evening’s organizer, Equinox’ Ellen Kassoff Gray, flanked by star chef Robert Weidemeier and the executive chef at the Ritz, David Serus. We’re big fans of Brasserie Beck, but Robert told us that, to his surprise in this down economy, the pricier Marcel’s is doing the best of his four restaurants.

Dogs were there who could be adopted at the shelter. As frequent readers know, that’s where we got our adorable Jinxie, and we encourage everyone to do the same. Here: WHS Board member Jay Timmons, chief programs officer Scott Giacoppo, Senate staffer Johanna Elsemore, and WHS CEO Lisa LaFontaine and Lila.

Finance board member Peter Gallagher, architect Caroline Boutte, DermaPet’s Stacey Nordheimer with Chloe, and dog lover Juliet Piekarski.

Volunteer Debby Wulff and emcee for the night Fox News’ Holly Morris with Beauregrad, wearing a vest from Neiman Marcus.

Welcome!

Last night, we also stopped at Bethesda’s Lebanese Taverna to celebrate launching new PR firm MoKi Media with owners Dannia Hakki and Sherry Moeller, here with K Street Kate’s Kate Michael.

We met representatives of Robert Andrew Salon and Spa, located near Annapolis: marketing director Lee Anne Decker and owner Bob Zupko.

We snapped jazz artist Marcus Johnson, whose CD Poetically Justified was in the great goodie bags, Dannia’s dad, Luxxery Medical Boutique plastic surgeon Ayman Hakki, and R&B superstar and DC native Ginuwine, whose most recent CD, A Man’s Thoughts, was released last summer.

Brides!

Fresh off a four-year anniversary celebration, we caught up with Georgetown’s Hitched owners Carin Levine and Julia Kepniss. After being discouraged by their own bride-to-be shopping experiences, the longtime friends decided to create an intimate bridal salon, featuring a wide range of gowns and accessories. They told us this season to look out for softer fabrics, fit-to-flare, and anything like gems, belts, or pins that makes the dress “pop.”

Mary Kate Rasa and Vanessa Meccarielli contributed to this issue.
