VIP Reception: 7pm. Info   Last night we headed over to Dupont Circle’s Current Lounge for Happy Hour for Haiti. We encourage everyone to support the great events around town benefiting those affected by the tragedy. Tonight we’ll be at the Park Hyatt for a fantastic event raising money for Red Cross activities in Haiti. Join us.   Defense contractor Tasha Robinson, Nordstrom’s Jade Blue, Dress Code Inc creative director Rick Johnson, and Blind Addiktion Denim media director Khaleelah PoRome. All money collected at the door went straight to Oxfam America Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. Perennial Sports and Entertainment’s Chitta Mallik, Hausfeld LLP’s Faris Ghareeb, and legal headhunter Matt Schwartz all told us they donated money to the relief effort via Red Cross texts or donations. Obama Art Party!   We headed to Hudson restaurant and lounge for an Art Soirée Sunday night that featured a selection of Obama cartoons and caricatures that have been published since his inauguration. The IFC’s Nino Kostava, NIH’s Sandro Naneyshvili, and event organizers Sandro Kereselidze and Tati Pastukhova. Georgetown U’s Regina Martinez, Carlberg Law Firm’s Demian McGarry, and the World Bank’s Tanja Boskovic. The Art Soirée brings DC art enthusiasts together in a comfortable, lively atmosphere with a variety of art.  Political cartoonist and one of the evening’s featured artists Kal Kallaugher and his wife Sue flank the Naval Research Laboratory’s Max Karasik and student Tamara Wilson. Kal told us one of his pieces is on the cover of the most recent Economist. Art Salon!   We visited Hamiltonian Gallery for DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities’ Art Salon: Gratitude, where its 2010 grantees were announced. DCCAH will distribute $7.25 million in 515 grants to DC artists and organizations. Soccer player Grady Renfrow, SRA’s Kheira Benkreira, SAIS’ Dina Nawas, and Aburdene Design Group’s Sarah Aburdene.   Art Salon is modeled after the salons of the late 19th century to inspire the creative community. Child Ballads’ Lex Paulson, Tranquil Space’s Niyati Shah, Banished? Productions’ Melissa Krodman, and local musician Aaron Thompson.   Each month, DCCAH gathers at a different location to bring together local artists. Dancing Queen, Hudson Relations & Resources’ Eric LaPrince, Michael Leonard, and Rashon Blair came to support Grammy-nominated DCCAH Young Artist grantee Christylez Bacon. Design Party!   We visited the Washington Design Center last week for modern interior design solutions and, of course, some wine and cheese. Here: Rill Architects’ Linda Gallegos, Richard Rossi, and James Rill, and interior designer Christopher Boutlier, the featured speaker for The Milano Group.    Warp & Weft’s David Rubin, Michael Mandapati, and Ilyssa Gross. David gave a presentation on modern rug designs and trends, and talked about the GoodWeave certification program that works to end illegal child labor in the carpet industry.  Welcome!   The newest member of the Bisnow team, David Neinstein, recently got his JD/MBA from USC.
