Capital City Ball!
| A big shoutout to Bozzuto and Vornado/Charles E. Smith on their 220 20th St. luxury apartments in Crystal City. Stunning views of DC, plus rooftop pool, “The Crescent Room,” and an eco-friendly design. See for yourself. |

| We were at the third annual Capital City Ball on Saturday at the historic Washington Club on Dupont Circle to raise funds to fight human trafficking. Also there’s a contest below; scroll down for a great giveaway! |

Capital City Ball founders Bruce Fries and John Dunford flank AOL’s Tonya Sable and a human statue with a sense of humor. Bruce told us the evening had two rules: everyone has to have fun, and they have to make a difference. Both goals were achieved.

Proceeds benefited three non-profits: The Emancipation Network, Innocents at Risk, and Polaris Project. Ball committee member Erika Gutierrez, Sullivan & Cromwell’s Dacia Nagar, Jenny Gu, attorney Kiki Messina, and Deloitte’s Solara Linehan.

Caris Corporation’s George Poste, Deb Carstens, Innocents at Risk founder Debby Sigmund and husband Meltzer Group’s Don Sigmund, former Under Secretary of State for Democracy, now with Baker & Hostetler, Paula Dobriansky, and the State Department’s Bruce Friedman.

We caught Walter Reed’s Angela Poling and Gregory Applegate enjoying the 11 piece dance band.

On the Benefit Committee: Pamela Brehm and Barbara Liles. There were hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, a dessert buffet, and live and silent auctions for a Tuscany villa vacation, two Masters 18th-hole tee flags signed by Phil Mickelson, and a Gibson guitar signed by Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas.

Cupcakes!
| |
Georgetown Cupcake opened its second shop in Bethesda Row this weekend and celebrated by giving everyone a free cupcake on Sunday. Of course there was a long line – there’s one even when you have to pay. But the wait was worth it!

Co-owners and sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne took DC by storm when they started selling their specialty cupcakes early last year. Our fave: the cinnamon apple carrot cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting.

Washington Improv Theater is giving away two tickets to The Scene Bisnow readers for its hilarious shows this Friday and Saturday or any week-end in December. It’s the return of Seasonal Disorder and iMusical (above), which turns an audience suggestion into an improvised musical that touches your heart, funny bone, and your heart’s funny bone. (Ask your doctor.) We’ll pick a random winner from those who correctly answer this question: Which of the following four viral videos was NOT created by Improv Everywhere: Food Court Musical, High Five Escalator, Prangstgrup – Reach, and Frozen Grand Central?
