Mind and Body!

Fight Night Founder Joe Robert and The Park at Fourteenth owner Marc Barnes invite you to a Pre-Fight Night Party tonight! This exclusive event runs from 8PM to 2AM; come out for an open bar and hors d'oeuvres from 8-9PM. Free to attend, but you must RSVP. Don’t miss it!

Lots of fun, small events going on in DC, while everyone gets psyched for Fight Night.

We joined a pioneer of alternative medicine, Deepak Chopra, for a private dinner at Teatro Goldoni Monday night to discuss his 56th(!) book, Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul: How to Create a New You. Wearing gem stone glasses, the author chats with Washington Life editor Kevin Chaffee and founder Vicki Bagley and Washington Post legend Ben Bradlee.

1st & Fresh - in-text

Dinner hosts Creative Enterprises International’s Janet Donovan, Hogan & Hartson’s Christine Warnke, and Teatro’s Michael Kosmides are flanked by political consultant Karen Finney, noted “energy reader” Rodney Henderson, and Patton Boggs’ Vinada Basnayake holding signed books. The book describes five body and soul breakthroughs, including how to improve your genes; we were excited to learn we can control the aging process by our thoughts.

Historic Heurich!

Dupont’s Heurich House, one of the country’s best preserved Victorian homes, opened its doors to 50 guests last night for guided tours and a Design Cuisine meal in the conservatory of the brewmaster's castle. Here: Fashion For Paws' Tara de Nicolas, NERA Economic Consulting's Matt Lowe, Design Cuisine's Erica Fredericks, and Heather Freeman's Lindley Thornburg.

We snapped The Hill's Christina Wilkie and international consultant Mac Broderic at the little known house, which was built in 1892 by brewer Christian Heurich.

Have a Heart!

We stopped by the Woman’s National Democratic Club Thursday night for New Vintage Presents: Vini Vegas. A subsidiary of Heart’s Delight, New Vintage is a young professionals organization focused on networking and vino, with all proceeds going to the American Heart Association. Here: New Vintage’s Jessica Altschul (Daimler) and Selom Azuma (CompuTech), advisor Shane Kim and member Jhamirah Howard

Event planner Megan Morgan and Kaiser Family Foundation’s Brandi Simmons take part in a game of wine tasting black jack.

Marketers & Shakers!

Monday night we joined the American Marketing Association for a networking event sponsored by ThinkFoodGroup & DC Magazine at Bethesda’s Jaleo. Here: Marriot’s Michelle Voorhies, FitFeud’s Marty Stake and wife GEP Washington’s Renee, and Grafik Marketing’s Rachel Friedman.

AMA-DC is one of the top five chapters in the US, serving more than 900 marketing professionals in over 500 organizations in the metropolitan area. Here: AU’s Leah Lesko, GeniusRocket’s Patrick Hanna, and Kauklin Ginsburg’s Anne Strong.

Clothes Make the Man!

Last week, we caught up with Matt Landsberg, the face behind Eric Finn Custom Clothiers and DC’s behind-the-scenes, go-to style consultant, at his Dupont office. His custom shirts, suits, and tuxedoes have hit the fashion scene through word of mouth by CEOs, politicians, professional musicians, and celebrity athletes (we finally got him to name drop Clinton Portis). Matt has a strong client base in DC, and he travels often to Chicago, NY, and Miami.

Matt, here with America’s Most Wanted’s John Walsh (sporting an Eric Finn shirt and suit) has one word of advice for DC men: “Get something that fits!” Involved with charities, Matt recently supplied suits and shirts for the Becky’s Fund fashion show. Look for more of his custom work at Fight Night tomorrow.
