Nora!

The Redskins First Ladies of Football are hosting a Calendar Premier Party TONIGHT, July 30, 7pm at Public Bar (1214 18th St NW). Get your autographed copy and stay for performances by the new cheerleaders squad. Pics, price, and info, see ad at right.

Last night we went to the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History to see film director Nora Ephron donate props from the set of her new movie Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep as famous chef Julia Child.

We snapped Nora, who’s also an author and screenwriter (When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, Heartburn) in front of the Julia Child exhibit. Julia’s family members came for the opening of the chef’s newest additions, such as pots and pans that were returned to the family from a California museum.

Julia’s niece Philadelphia Cousins and her son Nicholas Moran, and others from the Julia Child Foundation, gave a check to the Smithsonian to continue preserving the memory of the beloved chef.

Former Nathan’s owner Carol Joynt came to preview the new exhibit, here with museum director Brent Glass.

Keen!

Also last night, we went to the rooftop of the new W Hotel for a cocktail reception to raise funds for KEEN, Kids Enjoy Exercise Now. We snapped Beltway Cleaning Services' Patrick Judge and publicist Victoria Michael.

NBC 4 sports anchor Lindsay Czarniak was the MC for the evening, here with former Washington Ballet dancer Aaron Jackson.

Jayne Sandman, THE Artist Agency’s Lynda Erkiletian, Odell Simms’ Rachel Quintner and Saks Fifth Avenue’s Aleta Spitaleri.

Building Bridges for Education’s Lisa Franklin, the Keystone Group’s Michael Kay and the Meltzer Group’s Lidieth Mojica.

Movie Guy!

Over the weekend, we caught Fox5’s The Fan’s Movie Reviewer, Kevin McCarthy (he’s on Friday mornings) enjoying a sno-cone at a fun Blockbuster event in Rockville. They combined forces, hosting a trivia game to give away popcorn, sno-cones, and movie tickets.

The Georgian!

A tip of the hat to our sponsor, The Georgian at 8750 Georgia Avenue. You may have noticed the announcement of their rooftop poolside party August 5, and we wanted to tell you about them. The Georgian was one of the first high rises in Silver Spring (40 years ago) and is undergoing a dramatic $35 million-plus renovation including an all new pool and deck with sweeping views. The building is 15 floors plus penthouse, 890 luxury apartments (with cherry wood, porcelain floors, and gourmet appliances), four levels of parking, a health club, 24 hour concierge, wi-fi, business center, and Starbucks coffee bar. RSVP for the party showing off the new rooftop at www.GeorgianRooftop.com
