Proms and Arms!

A shoutout to great sponsor 1st & Fresh Catering, which reminds us that you shouldn't sacrifice customer service for delicious food. They have both. From local seasonal specials to signature breakfast and lunches. Eat well. Meet well. More info.

We went to Smith Point for the Once Upon a Prom fundraiser, aiding the non-profit dedicated to making any high school girl’s dream come true with a great prom gown.

The host committee dressed in fabulous 80’s inspired prom dresses: 3 Dog Agency’s Becca Glover Watkins, The Nature Conservacy’s  Coventry Burke, Jones Lange LaSalle’s Marybeth Coleman, CACI’s Tate Yost Lett, TBA Global’s Gabrielle Malman, lucky photographer Tony Powell, Ann Hand’s Ashley Taylor, AOL’s Nikki Hill, Mixx.com’s Kori Hill, and Ann Hand’s Lindsay Craig.

1st & Fresh

Marybeth Coleman, Washington Ballet’s Sara Lange, and George Sexton Associates’ Rebecca Lindrew all donated to the cause.

Sisters Kori & Nikki Hill flank graphic designer Laura Heffelfinger.

Bearing Arms!

We went to the Bullpen near Nats stadium on Saturday afternoon for the 2nd Annual Battle of the Biceps, hosted by the Madisons to benefit Community Lodgings, an Alexandria-based organization that provides transitional housing and social services for DC area homeless and low-income families. Jessica Jacobs and Carissa Maguire listen to the refs before duking it out.

The Madisons’ Laura Long cheered her boyfriend Bruce Thomas.

Before the match, Greater Washington Publishing’s Laura Rosenwinkel tosses a bean bag with school counselor Brooke Samuelson. Laura beat tough competitors and got to the finals.

Great biceps! Even though it’s an intense match-up between Laura Rosenwinkel and Corinne Falencki, the girls are still smiling. We like the girls’ contests better than the guys, which were so intense, Matt Donohue broke his arm! We all wish him a speedy recovery!

Clearing Up A Mystery!

Bethesda’s Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, which was just voted Best Steakhouse by Washingtonian readers, introduced a fun new bar menu. We stopped by to find out what the heck the name means. Sales manager Carrie Hood and sous chef Simon Franco explained that in 1965, Ruth Fertel mortgaged her home to buy Chris Steak House in New Orleans. Part of the agreement was that “Chris” stay in the name at that location. Although a fire destroyed the restaurant, Ruth decided to continue the name, and as her own reputation grew, Ruth added on her name.
