Partying for a Purpose!

Are you interested in commercial real estate? Lisa Scala, Bisnow & Herman Miller present a Happy Hour at Lima you won't want to miss. TOMORROW, July 23. Open bar from 5-6pm. Click here to sign up.

Last night we went to Policy for the national launch of the Protect Seals Campaign by Sirens for the Seals and The Humane Society.

The campaign is an artistic expression by chefs, bartenders, rockers, and restaurateurs to end Canada’s commercial seal hunt. Food was provided by Equinox, Restaurant Eve, Vidalia, Majestic and Bastille; all the chefs put a red hand print and signature on a large canvas going to galleries around the US. Here: supporters People magazine’s Alyssa Shelasky and Top Chef Spike Mendelsohn.

Strategy consultant Adam Kahn, South Moon Under’s Alexandra Gardner, and model for the event Amber Compton.

Supporters Steve and Irene Bartell, Sookie Son, Mich Thaung, Eva Robinson, and the Empowerment Institute’s Ayinde Priestley.

Partying for Change!

Also last night we went to Georgetown’s Neyla for the second Just BeCause charity happy hour. This time it benefited Suited for Change, which provides career wear and training to women. We snapped Liza Adamski, Jimmy Rayburn, and My Sisters Place’s Agatha Tomasik.

Suited for Change board member and event host Barbara Merola with Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce’s Maurisa Potts. Barbara told us they just suited their 15,000th woman.

Welcome Aboard!

Last night, we also stopped by the Navy Memorial in Penn Quarter to see the Navy Band & Sea Chanters during its annual summer concert series. It’s fun and free, and they perform at 8:00 PM every Tuesday, through August. The Navy Ceremonial Guard, called the face of the Navy, is known for a stone-faced look, but we got them to crack a smile for The Scene Bisnow.

The crowd was full of energy – especially when Earth, Wind, and Fire faves were performed.
