Fashion, Food, and Fun

The great "School Night" is coming up, presented by Fight For Children, which also does Fight Night, for the benefit of kids and education. It's next week, Friday, May 15, with a wonderful party venue at the Reagan Building, and entertainment by Wyclef Jean!  More info. For tickets, ask Simon Jackson at 202-772-0437.

So many great events last night!  Enjoy these pictures; we’ll have more next week.

We snapped this last night at the opening of an exhibit of Spanish culture, on its first stop of a world tour, held at East End’s trendy Apartment Zero. Here, superstar Spanish chef Jose Andres, who creates masterpieces at some of the neighborhood’s best restaurants –  Zaytinya, Cafe Atlantico, Jaleo, and Oyamel – and has received rave reviews at his new Blanco and Rojo tapas bars in Beverly Hills.

Benelli’s (Italian sporting goods) marketing guru, Steve McKelvain and wife Katie, who’s wearing a great anniversary gift necklace, are long-time friends of Apartment Zero’s owner, and support all his exhibits for different embassies. The show is open to the public through June 7.

Fashion!

Last night we also went to Couture for a Cure, at K Street’s Peacock Grand Cafe, honoring those whose lives have been affected by cancer. Presented by to the Nth Degree and America's Polo Cup, the fashion show highlighted the work of local designers. Hot off the runway, we caught up with models: Odin Technologies’ Krisztina Scherer, Freddie Mac’s Yelena Rozenberg, Naval Officer Jessica Andrews, and teacher Adri Scherer.

The fashion show raised money for Nadine Namoff, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year candidate. Here: Wes McAdams, whose girlfriend modeled, and two DC United stars who also modeled, Devon McTavish and Bryan Namoff.

Honey Elsayed told us she’s proud her daughter, Nadine Namoff, is helping raise money to find a cure.

American University’s Meredith Gramann, US Navy’s Kristen Murdock, the Scene Bisnow’s Makeda Saggau-Sackey, and Charles Rockefeller, who recently moved here from New York, cheered on the designers and models.

More Fashion!

The Washington Post’s weekly letter about fashion, DC Scout, celebrated with readers its two-year anniversary last night at Barney’s Co-Op. We snapped this of Daily Candy’s Charlotte Bigford and editor Erin Hartigan, Mi Chiamo Eka’s Ebong Eka, and Labels for Love’s Mary Amons.

DC Scout reader Alicia D’Alessandro and ProjectBeltway.com’s Rachel Cothran.

Kirk Grabowski, Washington Post intern Kelly Whyte, and Tax Analysts’ Genilson Brandao.

New Book!

Best-selling author Lee Woodruff was at Macy’s in Pentagon City Wednesday to talk about her new book, Perfectly Imperfect: A Life in Progress. She also spoke about the Bob Woodruff Family Fund for Traumatic Brain Injury that she and her husband, the ABC newsman, started in 2006. Bob spent five weeks in a medically-induced coma when his convoy was hit by an IED in Iraq. As a result of the great care he received, they decided to raise money for rehab for brain-injured members of the military. She’s here with Caroline Goss, who came to meet her.
