Yesterday we kissed the Blarney Stone and hit the hottest St. Pat’s Day party this side of Dublin: Tandberg (it's Nordic, close enough to Ireland) welcomed clients at its Reston office.
| |
We just had to get a picture of HR Director Cathy McAvey, who dresses like this every Wednesday.
Tandberg’s Kourtney Wooton and Michele Lawrence with Strategic Communications Group’s Chris Parente. The trio just launched Tandberg’s blog, Breaking Down Walls, which shows off its primary business lines. Oh, and did you know Cisco is really, really close to completing its acquisition of Tandberg?

| OPEN A SECURE LINE |
| |
Switching between a secure and non-secure video teleconferencing connection used to take a technician nearly an hour (something about encrypting IP addresses, deleting sensitive info, etc). Lanham-based Ultra Electronics Criticom’s ISEC appliance takes just minutes, by just flipping a switch, says president Bill Sapp, whose company works primarily with DoD and the intel community, usually in Iraq and Afghanistan. Criticom installs its solutions with video equipment from Cisco and others.

Bill came to Criticom in ’08 after stops at AT&T Government Solutions, Avaya, Cisco Systems, VTEL Corporation, and Motorola Codex. Outside of work, he loves to race cars (legally of course) along with playing tennis, golf, and skiing.

| ON THE GROUND IN HAITI |
| |
Delta Solutions consultant Jeff Rashap, a former volunteer medic in Loudoun, just returned from nearly two weeks in Haiti, assisting a rescue organization from Manassas. With a team of medical experts, he went to damaged Haitian villages near the town of Leogane, about 20 miles west of Port-au-Prince and close to the epicenter of the quake. Jeff’s job was triage.
| |
| He also assisted the team’s surgeon with routine procedures. He said the country’s communications were repaired pretty quickly, so he was able to call his wife and two kids each night. He also wrote a blog for Delta Solutions’s intranet. |
| |
Here’s Jeff with children from the orphanage where the medical team stayed. He tells us he’s starting a foundation to donate money and supplies to the orphanage. “We left with only the clothes on our back, because we gave them everything we could,” Jeff says. Interested in helping Jeff? Email him, jlrashap@comcast.net.
