PRIVACY IS DEAD

Internet marketers have tons of info on you, which led Genius Rocket CEO Mark Walsh to make the comment in our headline. But here’s the kicker, he says, they don’t have the manpower to effectively turn this info into big bucks.

Genius Rocket CEO Mark Walsh

This morning, we snapped Mark speaking at the Tech Council of Maryland social media event at Johns Hopkins’ Rockville campus. Mark says his company is trying to change the way the Internet is marketed, with users able to submit RFBs (requests for brilliance) to find different and unique ways to target specific audiences.

Internet marketing wiz Ken Chow of r2i
Internet marketing wiz Ken Chow of r2i described how to best market your business online: “Constantly deliver ways that empower your advocates to bring others to your message. There’s no magic wand.” Why we love Ken: His fake online marketing business for the presentation was TGI McScratchy's Goodtime Fooddrinkery, something Simpsons fans will appreciate.

Boost Labs CEO Ali Allage

Boost Labs CEO Ali Allage says 42k new blogs are started each day. The key for corporations is to think of a blog as a real commitment: “If you start it, but it doesn’t get updated for several weeks, it will reflect poorly on you.” His tip: Just try writing 100 words a day (we can do that!) two days a week, to get you in the habit.

GETTING A GOV'T JOB

Senator Mark Warner in Stafford

What’s Senator Mark Warner doing down in Stafford? (And the answer is not buying a pig or learning to square dance, our usual fare.) He was actually at the campus of Mary Washington earlier this week for a federal job fair that drew more than 7,000 people. More than 40 agencies were at the event, including DHS, the FBI and SSA.

WILL LEXIS ACQUIRE ROYAL CARIBBEAN?

LexisNexis Special Services recently held the Advanced Government Solutions Insight 2010 Conference at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. Here’s CEO Woody Talcove addressing more than 200 government workers on topics such as fraud, child protection, health and human services, cyber security, and cloud computing. Fun note about Woody: Every time we chat, he shares a new hobby. First it was jai alai, and then he said he wanted to be a cruise ship captain.
