| We love when movies come to life. Example: If tampered with, SRA’s new One Vault Voice secure voice solution for the BlackBerry, with hardened encryption chip, will self destruct (ala Mission Impossible). |
| |
Yesterday, we ran by the company’s Fairfax campus to meet up with SVP Pat Burke, who tells us the solution features a communications application and crypto chip bundle that lets users protect their calls. He says more than 50% of mobile calls include sensitive info. One Vault Voice is already being deployed with early adopters in the private sector and gov (they can’t say who), and Pat says the best features are its affordability and discreetness.

Pat, who heads the company’s offerings and products division, has been with SRA for more than 18 years (he jokes he’s done every job, including washing windows). Outside of the office, he's busy studying his family genealogy (giving him a great excuse to travel to Ireland) and doing woodworking.

| MR. CLEAN |
| |
Yesterday, we swung by the Rockville Innovation Center to chat up Clean Currents’ Gary Skulnik, whose company is helping local neighborhoods save on energy. Clean Currents acts as a broker between clients (homeowner associations, businesses, etc…) and clean energy providers, to get the best price. In the neighborhoods, it’s donating $10/participant toward a green community project.

Why a goat, you might ask? Gary tells us he likes to spend his downtime hiking the Billy Goat Trail in Great Falls with his two kids. One frustrating note: When he took his kids on the trail this time last year, the weather was in the 60s. Ah, the memories.

OUR READERS PREDICT: NORTHROP TO VA
| |
If you checked out yesterday’s Real Estate Bisnow (and you should) you’ll see a note about how Maryland Gov Martin O’Malley is pulling out all the stops to woo Northrop Grumman north of the Potomac. This comes after the DC Council discussed giving huge tax breaks for it to move its HQ to the District. It’s funny, because two weeks ago, we started a contest to guess where Northrop would end up (asking for a specific location) and the dozens who answered ALL said somewhere in Virginia. Do they know something we don’t? If you’re interested in joining the contest, find the details here.
