Think of it: Children born in 2009 have never known a cheery near-term forecast from Steve Fuller, so it was momentous for all ages this morning when the GMU regional econ expert said the recession ended about five months ago (but the effects probably won’t be felt until the middle of next year, when old-fashioned economic growth picks up where the stimulus package left off). An interesting note on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor: This recession was the longest since WWII.

Microsoft public sector services chief Wes Anderson (not to be confused with the director of Fantastic Mr. Fox), who was interviewed by Nixon Peabody partner Jonathan Redgrave. Wes says the next big attack on the US will come from cyberspace: “We could be talking about a Pearl Harbor-type sneak attack.” He says 70-80% of government spending goes toward O&M, which could be drastically reduced with a shift to cloud computing.
