Your weapon depends on what you’re hunting. When chasing gov't contracts, a targeted approach is better, according to Deltek’s Clarity Study. We stopped by the Tysons Marriott yesterday for the release event. (Is this NoVa's version of a movie premiere?)

Deltek VP Rich Wilkinson

We snapped Deltek VP Rich Wilkinson, who turned things on end by saying contractors scored higher win rates the fewer contracts they bid: Those bidding less than 25 contracts were "far and away more successful. Another tidbit: while gov't spending has tripled in 20 years, the average award has decreased 40%, so companies need to win 2.5 times the contracts to make the same money.

Steve, GMU regional economics guru (and speaker at our The New Washington VI, sign up!) says the economy has begun to grow, but not fast enough to be noticeable until ’11. That’s also about the time unemployment rates will catch up.

Congrats to Rosetta Stone CEO Tom Adams, second from left, who was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 at a ceremony in Palm Springs. With Tom are E&Y’s Rene Salas, Art Quiver’s Matt Schenck, and E&Y’s Herb Englert. Check out a clip of Tom winning (and look for Jay Leno in the background).
