$43 Billion!

No, our title doesn't refer to extra stimulus; it's last year’s revenue for Lockheed, which provides so much work for subcontractors, it might as well be a gov't agency. Reps from its four major divisions were at the Universities of Shady Grove yesterday, meeting with over 450 potential subs at the Montgomery County Chamber’s GovConNet Prime Opportunities Forum.

There’s Lockheed Regulatory Compliance Analyst Thadd Hudson speaking with Simulations International's Lori Kavle. Along with open sessions, Lockheed execs and local companies had speed dating-esque meetups, where they talked about wants and needs for 15 minutes. Oh, and don’t worry if you missed out, MoCo Chamber CEO Gigi Godwin says similar sessions are coming.

Deloitte Gives Back

More than 32,000 Deloitte employees nationwide (and nearly 500 here in the DC area) spent Friday giving back the community, including carrying forward with its mission to prepare nonprofits for the next disaster. Above, Deloitte Regional Managing Partner Maritza Montiel gave the keynote address at last week’s Deloitte IMPACT Day event at the Washington Convention Center.

There’s Maritza with a somewhat hidden Tom Davis. She told her story of escaping Castro’s Cuba with no worldly possessions and getting assistance from the US government and Goodwill for things like food, toiletries, and even her first dresser.

Track Government Spending

We’re not saying netXccel CEO GP Pal is psychic, but three years ago this guy started a company that helps gov't agencies track exactly where its dollars go. (GP, we want tomorrow’s lottery numbers.) Now his solution will help someone like OMB monitor its number of fixed price contracts, as opposed to cost plus contracts or similar transactions. “These organizations are so big, they can’t keep track of everything going on, so to make sure they are following transparency and accountability standards, we help them stay on top of their numbers,” says GP, whose Montgomery County-based company has more than 400 clients nationwide.

The End of Parking Tickets?

MobileNOW! CEO Erik Puskar is trying to fix your parking woes. His company has created software that goes in meters, allowing people to pay from their cell phone via an EZ-Pass style system. “You get an alert when your meter is about to expire, so you can pay without running out and using quarters,” Erik says, from his Rockville Innovation Center office. His system is already running in Decatur, Ga., and he’s going to bid on a similar style deal in Montgomery County and is in early talks with the District.
