We all know virus hunters McAfee and Norton, but perhaps you should know Rockville-based Triumfant. We met CMO Jim Ivers, who tells us his company's product detects viruses and malicious attacks (and destroys them) within 30 seconds without relying on signatures (basically the code of known viruses).

"There are so many new viruses every day that it's impossible to keep the signatures up to date," Jim says. We "get rid of everything that shouldn't be there." Triumfant is already selling to DoD and Army, along with major corporations. They were a best in show recommendation at the RSA Conference for their "3 Minute Malware Challenge" demo, which infected a computer with malware and then killed and removed all remnants of an attack in under three minutes.

Jim, with CEO John Prisco, tells us "There's nothing else like this on the market." A Florida-native, who joined last year after stops at webMethods, Cybertrust and Vovici, Jim stays busy with two teenage boys and finding as much time as he can to play golf.

At the NVTC's B2G committee meeting Friday morning in Tysons, we found My SBX's Jeff White and Stacy Brownstein, NVTC's Kristin D'Amore, Credence Management Solutions CEO Sid Chowdhary and Dutko's Matt Schrader. Just today, MySBX announced a partnership with the NVTC, helping connect its members with MySBX's business exchange platform. "We've been called the Match.com of government contracting," Jeff says. Some fun personal notes: Matt's dad was a relief pitcher at USC, playing with the likes of Fred Lynn, Dave Kingman and Steve Busby. Sid's daughter Maya is about to turn one and is just learning to walk.

Goddard Space Flight Center Deputy CIO Mark Walther says that NASA has never really had a cloud computing solution, but they seem to be getting into the area at the right time. "We need industry to make sure we're looking forward with our technologies and not doing this in an agency vacuum."

That's four of fifty. Here's Goodman & Company's Gary Thomson, Former Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell, Ideal Innovations SVP Powell Benedict and Virginia Business Magazine Publisher Bernie Niemeier at last week's Virginia Chamber of Commerce Fantastic 50 Awards that honors the state's 50 fastest growing companies. Powell is accepting the Virginia Vanguard Award for Technology.

John Johnson officially retired last week as Assistant Commissioner of GSA's Integrated Technology Services. (Ed O'Hare is his replacement for those not in the loop). So will John be relaxing poolside? Not exactly. He's already accepted a job as partner at McLean's Deep Water Point Consulting, providing complete life cycle of IT consulting.
